Good Thai Food in Austin?
Hey gang...
The registrations are looking good. We do have room left for each of the three classes across 5 days.
This is really an awesome chance to start at the beginning and ride it out to the advanced level.
AND
While I'm out there I'm going to need to find the great Thai restaurants around town and any fun spots.
Let me know what I CAN'T MISS! ;-)
Fun spots?
It's Austin! it's pretty much one big Fun Spot.
As for Thai food, I'm more a phan of pho, but you should give Little Thai Food a try (http://www.littlethaifoodaustin.com/) yes, it's in a trailer park, but om nom nom. (Austin has awesome trailer park food).
You like bats? You should. after eating you should check out the daily evening exodus of the world's largest urban bat colony, which lives under the Congress Bridge (http://www.batcon.org/index.php/get-involved/visit-a-bat-location/congre...)
Get you some proper tex-mex while you're here. Don't listen to those poseurs who maintain that Guero's is the place to be; it ain't. You want Chuy's. Yes, you do. No, really. You do. The queso compuesto is ambrosia, and don't miss out on the creamy jalapeno.
Looking forward to the classes!
YES!
Thanks Dan...
This is EXACTLY the cultural counseling I need to make my stay in Austin an excellant one!
Let's keep it coming! ;-)
Never a shortage...
...of things to do here.
Partying may or may not be your style, but 6th Street is kind of an Austin icon. it's more suited to the party-animal mentality, but something to experience if only once. Tons of places there and in the Warehouse District. Oodles of cool (and weird) shops. Maybe you'll see a ghost at the Driskill Hotel (http://www.haunted-places-to-go.com/driskill-hotel.html).
if you like beer, The Ginger Man has more taps than I personally have ever seen. Hundreds? Or 512 Brewing Company. (I don't do beer, so I can't attest to anything related...)
Maybe catch a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse (http://drafthouse.com/austin), where talking/texting is absolutely forbidden and violators are thrown out on the spot (well, they're given ONE chance to knock it off). You can also get some decent food there: Popcorn with real butter(!), or maybe a Guinness float. Hey, they have a Big Lebowski Quote-along on the 9th! Might have to go to that, myself. (http://drafthouse.com/movies/biglebowskiquotealong/austin)
Live music? you'd have to be almost corpsified to not be able to find some on any given night.
