Just ask
I have some experience ;-)
Just ask me! (here or direct)
What is your "old" project about?

It's this old page I've decided to give some love. It's design and structure is almost 10 years old, thus the use of frames: http://www.intresseklubben.nu/ssg/
I'm quitting my old web hosting and since the version of this website is in ASP, it's time to move on and since I'm working with Drupal nowadays, the transition to that system is quite natural.
My vision is a map that covers the whole webbrowser window with the different sexy names visible on the map with markers, and I since I've never worked with maps like this I would like to seek the knowledge of others so I have some direction before I start working.
Any hints and help are most welcome.
Yours truly,
Adam

sexy names
Is it for place names in Sweden that sound a bit 'fruity'?
I like Open Layers, create nodes for each location using the location field, create an open layers view. There are some good tuts around for open layers. I haven't got too into styling but I think there is quite a lot you can do to make the maps look less 'google mappish'. I have always loved maps and would like to learn more.
I have a project rumbling in the back of my head to find someone living on every line of latitude, present a little profile and put them on jquery scrolling globe.
...
I particularly like Fucke in Kramfors kommun.
'Oh Fucke, I ended up in Kramfors'.
Yes indeed, this is a site
Yes indeed, this is a site for 'fruity' geographical names in Sweden. It's been around since the late '90s and as a single website since 2004 and it's in dire need of some love.
Open layers you say. I'll start testing that. You wouldn't happen to have an URL to a good tutorial lying around?

tut
This should get you started.

Its not complicated although there is a very specific order in making the view and there are a few modules to install but there is a make file available on the tutorial.
I think you should knock up some fruity markers.

Leaflet
Leaflet seems nice. Only thing is I found is that the zoom, map bounds are less configurable without writing a module using the API. So if you set a point on a map then it will zoom to a default which you can't configure. Unless someone else knows how this is done without coding.
Tack för alla tips. Just nu
