meta tags

can someone recommend a module that will allow creation of meta keywords and descriptions?

viewing the page source for the one drupal site I manage, the meta description is empty and the meta keyword field is missing altogether.

If it is Drupal 7, use the Metatags module:

There is a link on the same page to the D6 module which was called Nodewords.
