Upcoming Events
Small regular meetings are held in various parts of the country or online, usually on a monthly basis. Please visit the Drupal Ireland meetup.com group for more details on upcoming meetups nationwide.
There is also a separate meetup.com group for organising the Limerick meetups, so be sure to check that one out too.

Dublin Drupal Pub Night
Heather has organised a fantastic "Drupal in a Day" training event (http://groups.drupal.org/node/210478) on Friday, so I thought it might be a good opportunity for the Dublin Drupal community to get together that evening.
Given that the training is taking place in ICS, I propose we meet nearby in the Schoolhouse bar on Northumberland St (http://www.schoolhousehotel.com/) starting from 5pm. The bar does excellent food too in case anyone is interested.
See you there!

Dublin Meet Up
Hi Guys
I missed the last meet up but I'd like to propose that this month we hold the meetup in our offices and that it would be nice to have some talks and maybe do some work on the drupal ireland website. Whaddaya reckon Síle?
So to kick off I would be up for doing a talk on javascript in drupal and the Backbone API module that should be presentable by the time the meet up comes along. Would any one else be up for doing a bit of a talk? Lets discuss/argue/agree and come up with something awesome!!
ps the office is on baggot street so we can always go for a pint afterwards!!

OK -So! We've done it before, and I'd like to do it again.
Can anyone offer a free venue for training in Dublin?
I'd like to offer it for free or low cost (just enough to cover printing).
Ideally, in February or March.
We mainly need a flat room with tables or desks, and reliable wifi.
Read morePassing filters to to a view from a block
Hi All
I am Hoping someone can point me in the right direction,
I'm using the D7 Views 3 and custom module,
I have created a view that takes 2 (contextual) filters.
And I have created custom module that creates block form that traverses a taxonomy tree a creating a parent-child drop-down using select lists similar to the way hierarchical_select works, what I’m not sure is the best method off passing the values from the select list to the views-page, (this will involve redirecting the user to that views-page with the arguments)
Belfast meetups 2012
Does anyone know if the Belfast meetups are still happening? If so is the first one of 2012 going to happen on 26th Janurary? I've just moved back from England where I worked for Ixis and now want to get involved in the Drupal community in NI.
If anyone has information or wants to meetup for a chat that would be great!
Kind Regards,
Mark
Pull drush make includes from a private repo
Has anyone tried to pull a .make file as an include in another make file from a private git repo?
Tried pulling in via https but there is no way to authenticate resulting in the download of the login page.
Example:
projects[] = drupal
; INCLUDES
includes[da_news] = "git repo/da_news.make.inc"

Read moreGIT project repositories
Hi all,
I'm looking at (finally) getting around to using GIT, mainly to keep a history of theme changes.
Just wondering if people could share their opinions on what should be stored in the repositories. I've seen everything from people just storing the theme they are working on to the entire Drupal install (minus the settings.php file).
I was considering just the sites folder, but I'm wondering if maybe I should go for the entire Drupal install?
What are people's views?
Cheers,
Chris
Bots
Hi all,
May I firstly echo the comments that others have made about Drupalcamp Derry. Even though I missed the first part of the day on Saturday (thanks hangover) it was a great weekend and the open space discussions on the Sunday were really interesting.
Now onto my problem. I know this isn't really a Drupal issue, but I'm hoping it might be of use to some other Drupalistas.
I've noticed in our apache access logs that the majority of requests to our site are coming from bots, I want to exclude a few. I modified my .htaccess file to look like this:
A great DrupalCamp Derry! What did you think?
Thanks to Feargal O'Kane and his team at BT48 who organised DrupalCamp Derry at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin. Great looking venue, and excellent wifi. About half the folks came along for a big group dinner and continued the conversation at Halo. The after-camp dinner is becoming a tradition here for the Ireland camps.
There were some great sessions provided as well, and some good debates. (Anyone for a "Drupal Debate" event?)
Thanks to the folks who prepared these great sessions! (20 mins sessions seems to hit the sweet spot).

Read moreModels of local or regional user group websites?
What are some examples of regional Drupal websites? And what purposes do they serve? What are other open source communities doing?
Please edit and add yours!
[We're considering making a site for Drupal Ireland and considering these models - h]
- Community sites. They provide the space for community interaction, event planning, discussion.
- Public facing welcome mats for decision makers
- Websites for the regional association or group.
- Are there any which are replacements for the Drupal.org Marketplace? listing service providers for an area or region.
Lifts to Drupalcamp Derry
Lift from Dublin to (London)Derry and back (for Drupalcamp)
Seems to be pretty hard to get flights from Geneva to Derry. There was one going out on the Friday, but that seems to have gone now, and I couldn't find anything going back on the Sunday or Monday. Getting flights to Dublin is pretty easy though. So...
If I arrive in Dublin on Friday, what's the chances of being able to scavenge a lift from someone to Derry and back??!?
Gowannn... you know you want to! ;)
Read moreTheming menu links for a specific menu
Hi all,
Just wondering if someone could help me out with a little brain teaser I've been having. I want to add span tags inside menu links in one specific menu to allow some mad theming :|
In D6 you can override this function in template.php:
<?php
function theme_menu_item_link($link) {
if (empty($link['localized_options'])) {
$link['localized_options'] = array();
}
return l($link['title'], $link['href'], $link['localized_options']);
}
?>DrupalCamp Derry

DrupalCon / CiviCon - who's going?
Hi guys. Long time no see!
Looking forward to next week, assuming Croydon isn't still on fire! So, who's going? Will be great to see some of you there again. Also, if you didn't know - I somehow got roped into presenting at CiviCon, which is on the Monday:
http://london2011.civicrm.org/program/session-schedule
Yes, that's me first thing on Monday morning, in the Scramble room! Can I expect to see any familier faces at the CiviCon? Or am I going to be staring at a room full of strangers?
See you soon,
Tom
