Hi everyone, I'm really glad to see this higher education group getting going.
I hate to create new groups, but I have also created another group, which is a subset of the Higher Education group which itself is a subset of the Education group, but has a somewhat different mission. The California Higher Education group is formed to promote Drupal adoption at a statewide level in public universities across California. This is an especially important time to do so, as administration in the CSU and UC systems have discussed moving some services to the "cloud". Much of administration is not aware of the vast adoption of Drupal across the state as well as the value it provides, and they are probably not even aware of it in some instances. This goal of this new group is to help change that. Please take a look at the mission statement I put up and feel free to suggest edits.
Again, the California Higher Education group is a subset the higher education group, but is on its own because of its mission of promoting Drupal specifically at public institutions of higher education in the state of California. I don't wish to detract from the higher-education group here, which I will be an active part and which will be essential to helping us get questions answered and no longer duplicating effort as much across universities. I found at DrupalCon that so many of us are facing the same problems, and we can go a long ways by working together.
Cheers.
