Panels 2 is a module that uses drag & drop to add content to layouts. It is designed as an API so that modules can use these displays to customize their own areas, and we're working toward fully integrating this solution into Drupal 7.
Displaying multiple pages using one View page and one Panels 3 page.
Hi All
I created a content type 'Island Profile' (to store different related types of island specific information for numerous islands) using CCK. I am using Views to query the database, to output the different types of corresponding 'Island Profile' specific information, into numerous view panes within a single view for each island. Finally I am using Panels 3 to layout the created view panes for the 'Island Profile' content type into a panel page.
I have a few questions;
Question 1.
Read morePanel selection rules for terms
I'm using the taxonomy page that's in code for Panels. In my selection rules for a variant, I am checking for a certain vocabulary type. There are a few terms however, that I would also like to be variants that reside in that vocab type.
Is this possible? Do I need to use php code or is that where contexts come in? I'm still trying to wrap my brain around panels 3.

Where can I find the most recent discussions of porting Panels to D7? I'd like to find out the current status and get involved. Thanks.
Read moreQuestion on User profile template
Hi,
i hope this is the right place to post a question. I am using Panels 3 and I wanted to use panels for the user profile pages (basically View and Edit). So i activated the "User profile template" and added a variant. After creating a variant without a specific selection rule the panel was displayed when i visited a users page (users/username).
I did not manage to display a panels page at the user edit pages. I created a selection rule for the logged in user = user being viewed but this variant was never chosen.
Programmatic creation of panels
Hi
Is there a Programmatic way to import an exported panel? I have created some panels and I want to load them, on mass, into a new site. Assuming the content types , views etc are all identical - can this be done? I cant seem to find anything related to this...
Thanks in advance!

Read moreUsability: panel pages and preview button
Preview functionality is known feature of many publishing systems: it's intended to show exactly how your content will look like before publishing. With nodes displayed in Panel Pages there is issue that panel layout can be quite complex, and sometimes you can't have same display in Panel Page and in preview (without spending too much effort). Basically, to have same display one would have to code that complex layout in node template too, in addition to Panel lauout template, or have some way to render Panel display in preview.
How do you solve that problem ?
Is it possible to render Panel page in preview in place of node template ?
Panels 3 / Ctools -- Edit Panel Content menus load extended
I've just updated from Panels-2 to Panels-3. I've run into some theme problems with Ctools. On the Edit Panels Content page, the page loads with all the CTools drop down menus expanded. This happens with my custom theme, but not with the Garland theme.
Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions on how to fix?
thanks

Hi!

I would like to replace profile page by panels. To do this i created panel page and i set the path to "user/%". After submiting I get the error "The path is already in use" and the URL path box turns red. The same with node/%.
Do you know how to override this? Or how can I replace every user profile page by panels?
Thank you very much, and sory for my english ;)

I have panel pages that contain panes of RSS feed items. I'd like to enable user voting for a feed pane. I haven't found a way to do this with fivestar or the votingapi. Is there a way to do this without a lot of programming modification to either the panels or feed aggregator modules?
Thank you.
Read moremultiple FAQs in a panel
Hi all,
I'm a complete novice with Drupal so these q's may be lame to the experts here:
I have two questions for any perfect panelers.
1.) I'm having trouble adding two faq modules into a two column panel - when displayed they lose their "expandable content" ability. I'm interested in knowing if anyone has had experienced this problem and can tell me how to get it back.
Read moreCloned Panel Pages not really cloned, wipe original panel
This has happened twice to me now in the past few weeks, on two different sites on two different servers.
I create a nice panel page with views, then clone it to a new panel, and the original panel is wiped out. The first time I made view changes to the cloned panel and when I checked the original panel those changes had taken effect there also. I got some db errors but did not record them, thinking I had screwed it up. I rebuilt both panels from scratch and wondered what I did wrong.
Read morepassing arguments from one panel pane to panel page with multiple panes
I am attempting to create a page with panels where some of the panels will contain links to other pages with multiple panels.
Here is an example. Suppose there is a CCK content type called "Dogs". There is a content_taxonomy field named "breed" and a additional content_taxonomy fields for "things that are good about the breed" and "things that are bad".

Read moreHow can I retrieve the context from a panel to a custom block placed in it ? (with panels 3)
I don't figure out how to retrieve the panel's context to modifie the block's content.
Maybe would I better to make a new pane instead a new block ?
It's would be great if I could choose the context and pass arguments form the block setting in panel, like with a view.
Let's imagine I've made a custom block in a custom module like this :
Read moreWorkflow information in Panels
I searched for this kind of features, but haven't found any suitable solutions. There is need to display workflow state information and instructions at node page. Ofcourse, there is wonderful Rules module, and I could use it's "show system message" action. Hovewer I find using Rules with Panels is too embarassing: event "content is going to be viewed" is not fired at all, and "user is going to view page" has too few things to work with. To use Rules for this, one would have to use too many PHP, which I think is killing the purpose of Rules
Read moreHow to to set a panel page's title to the title of an embedded view?
Using latest Panels 5.x-2.x-dev
I have a panel page where the main content area is an embedded View. This view takes arguments which become part of its title, so the title changes dynamically (it's a year/month archive drill-down view). (See screenshot attached)
I want to set the title of the overall panel page to the embedded view's title. Anyone know how to do this? If it can't be done through the UI (which I suspect), please suggest code approaches.
This forum seems pretty quiet, hoping some of the experts are still out there!
