This is a local user group for sharing knowledge about Drupal and networking with other folks in the greater Seattle web/tech community.
SeaDUG meets monthly to talk about Drupal, to plan related events, and to socialize. During SeaDUG meetings we showcase modules and projects, share tips and tricks, and answer nagging questions about Drupal.
We welcome participants from all skill levels and all disciplines related to website building and development - marketers, project managers, developers, designers, writers, devops, user researchers, QA, and more.
Stay in Touch
- Join the SeaDUG Slack workspace to chat regularly with other SeaDUG community members.

Jobs
PLEASE do not post job offers in this group unless they are local to Seattle, or remote and open to people who live in Seattle. Any job posted to this group that is not in the Seattle/Puget Sound Metropolitan Area or open to its residents will be promptly removed.

Drupal 8 Site Management and Deployment Workshop
Composer is the current standard for managing PHP project dependencies. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to use it, along with other open source tools, to manage and deploy Drupal websites in a streamlined fashion. You'll learn how to keep the number of files in your project's repository to a minimum, avoiding the need to commit Drupal core and contributed projects with your codebase. You'll learn how to track changes to your site's configuration using version control and prevent configuration from being changed on a live site.

The monkey has left the building aka Mandrill Free Transactional Email is EOL
How is that for a title? :)
We use Mandrill for many of our clients for handling transactional emails and ♥ it, you may remember us talking about it at a prior meeting. Now they are closing their free service and we are sad. Many of our clients will likely be looking to move to some other provider that offers a free option for the relatively small amount of transactional emails they send. So, I have some questions:

LinuxFest Northwest 2016 is coming up in April, and there will be two talks on Drupal there:
1) http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/2016/sessions/quality-oriented-drupal-devops
2) http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/2016/sessions/drupal-8-build-something-ama...
It'd be great to also get a Drupal booth in the Expo hall. I'm reaching out to the DA to see if we can get some support with signage, etc.
Is there interest in attending and taking a shift at the Drupal Booth? We need to know by Monday, Feb 29th.

Seattle Global Sprint Day
Yes we can!
Seattle will be participating in the Global Drupal Sprint Day on 30 Jan! Details are in flux but here are the basics:
Time: 10am - 5pm (with a likely post-event happy hour/dinner nearby)
Location: Forum One offices in Seattle (building access details below)
Who: Anyone interested in helping out Drupal 8! This event is for never-done-this-before to experienced core developers and everyone in between.
Drupal 8 Module Development Workshop
As you may be aware, module development for Drupal 8 is significantly different from development for Drupal 7. Many concepts are similar and some haven't changed at all, but writing a module now is a fundamentally new experience. If you are interested in getting started, are looking to port a module to D8, or are just curious, join us for a hands-on Drupal 8 module development workshop. Bring a laptop with a local installation of Drupal 8, your IDE of choice, and an open mind.

I mentioned this at the Dec SeaDUG meeting -- the Global Sprint Weekend is coming up at the end of January. Sat., the 30th, seems to be the main day, but some locations are holding sprints on both the 30th and 31st.
What about Seattle?
If someone can arrange the logistics, I'm happy to help with mentoring new contributors and/or scouting good issues to work on. I can promise any D8 fixes to Better Exposed Filters will be committed on-site! :)

New to group - In need of long term Drupal Developer
Hey all - I'm new to the Seattle area via Boulder, Colorado. I run a site called ProTrails and we are on a Drupal 7 platform - just upgraded from 6. We'd historically used a Drupal firm out of Boulder but have outgrown them. We're seeking a single Drupal expert developer to work in an ad-hoc yet semi-continuous basis. We always have projects going on so ideally the person would work for themselves (not a big firm), take on a few projects each year from a few different clients and own them. We're looking for a 'partner' developer, someone who values high quality and attention to QA detail.
