This is a local user group for sharing knowledge about Drupal and networking with other folks in the greater Seattle web/tech community.
SeaDUG meets monthly to talk about Drupal, to plan related events, and to socialize. During SeaDUG meetings we showcase modules and projects, share tips and tricks, and answer nagging questions about Drupal.
We welcome participants from all skill levels and all disciplines related to website building and development - marketers, project managers, developers, designers, writers, devops, user researchers, QA, and more.
Stay in Touch
- Join the SeaDUG Slack workspace to chat regularly with other SeaDUG community members.
- Follow us on LinkedIn for more frequent news and Drupal-related content sharing.
Jobs
PLEASE do not post job offers in this group unless they are local to Seattle, or remote and open to people who live in Seattle. Any job posted to this group that is not in the Seattle/Puget Sound Metropolitan Area or open to its residents will be promptly removed.
Consultants/vendors
Seattle Consultants and Companies List
I thought it might be useful if we created a list of Seattle-area companies and individuals who do Drupal projects for clients. The idea would be that the list could be viewed by potential clients, who might not want to make an account and post a job, and also that other Seattle Drupal User Group members could use the list to find people to refer clients to or help them on projects. It will also give the group members an idea of what type of Drupal expertise we have available locally.

Hi folks. I've volunteered to implement a new website for a local non-profit [1] using Drupal and CiviCRM, including community forums, a custom event calendar, donations, fund raising support, etc. I'm looking to share experiences & advice with others using the same platform. Is there a group of Seattle-based non profit Drupal site developers already out there? Are there others doing similar work who are interested in brainstorming together, perhaps co-working, or sharing experiences online? Please drop me a line.

SeaDUG Barnraising Wrap-up

Thanks to everyone who participated in today's barn raising event. It was fascinating to see all of the collaboration and teamwork come together during the course of the afternoon.
We finished the day with a functional Drupal site that reproduces the content and features of the original. A custom theme built with CSS was mostly completed to mimic the look and feel of the original site. The installation profile will require additional planning and debugging.
A follow up session will be forthcoming to complete the remaining milestones and release the site to the owner along with documentation. Please comment below with your thoughts and experiences...

For the barnraising this coming weekend, I know we want to be able to record everything. Finally I have taken the time to figure out how to create a screen cast on Ubuntu.
When you want to create a screencast in Linux, it seems like xvidcap is the way to go. Not very fancy, but it sure does its job. Below are some notes describing how xvidcap was easily installed on ubuntu (Fiesty). Presumably, other Debian based Linux distributions would also work following the information below. In addition, xvidcap offers a slackware package and source for installation.

See you all in a few days!

Read moreFacebook-Drupal User Integration
Below is a list of various Facebook modules that are currently available. Each provide a partial attempt at integrating Drupal with the Facebook API, but none of them address the most critical issue - application integration and user/session management.
My goal is to create a module that allows a single Drupal site to be related to a single Facebook application. This will also relate a Drupal user to their Facebook user ID, as well as their application session key if they have installed the associated Facebook application. (Note, session keys allow you to asynchronously writing to profiles, feed actions and more.)
In addition, it would be nice to have a way to mange profile writing and feeding using themes, roles, actions and other existing modules.
Is anyone else interested in taking these modules to the next level?
Logging in and providing a Facebook API wrapper is nice, but it is only a fraction of the power.
Signup module for dug events and drupalcamps
There was some talk at the Seattle Dug about helping out with signup module so that it would be compatible with things going on here on g.d.o (so that it could be used for signups to dug events)
there is post over here about the todo list for the signup module http://groups.drupal.org/node/5044
maybe the upcoming la drupal camp, or berkeley camp or an associated user group (or the Seattle DUG) would be able to contribute some to the signup module?

Read moreCron fix tip
Last updated by communitysteps@... on Sun, 2007-08-19 01:42
This tip might be helpful to others. I have been having problems getting cron to run consistently. Last night, Shawn gave me a tip to clear the news aggregator queues. I removed the aggregator items and selectively updated each news feed. One feed wouldn't update and it caused an error message. I deleted the problem feed and was able to run cron successfully.
For example: http://domain.com/admin/content/aggregator
Click, "remove items" then "update items"
Regarding configuration control and versioning
One of my partners, Arthur (arthurf), just posted this to one of our internal lists. Since we were talking about it (how to track configuration changes if you work on a staging site) last night, i figured i would pass it along:
