Just another reason that proves Gartner is a prostitute

In this Gartner report they don't even mention Drupal directly but allude to it via a small reference to Acquia. What a load of horse-shit. They make the criteria so narrow that they can only include their "sponsors" and exclude any open source CMS's.

It just proves that proves that Gartner is a prostitute - Their research is paid for by the enterprises that "sponsor" them and thus they only feature products from those "sponsors"

Leveraging Facebook, and efficiently managing the tools available for community communication and growth

I'm wanting to get a discussion going, primarily about creating a Facebook page for the South African Drupal community, secondarily about the other communication tools at our disposal and how best to use them.

techboard.co.za - A job board for South African Tech workers.

I am sure all developers hate recruiters equally. That is why I recently launched this site. It is meant to be a place where employers and employees can
connect directly.
I plan on only allowing high quality job ad and no ads from
recruiters.

Please have a look at:

www.techboard.co.za

I would love to get some PHP and Drupal jobs on there so feel free to post a job if you are hiring. It's free.
Also if you are looking for work, check in from time to time or subscribe to the rss feed: http://techboard.co.za/jobs.rss
Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Clean urls Hetzner

Hello everyone,

I'm a belgian student Marketing and i'm currently in south africa for my internship.
A part of my internship work is to make a website and so I made my first drupal site.

Today I migrated the site to my Hetzner webhosting.

The website is located on a multiple domain name, so one webhosting package, 1 site and 4 subwebsites.

I don't succeed to enable the clean urls with Hetzner.

help required using .htaccess to do a 301 redirect

Hi,

I have a page with a URL alias that had a spelling mistake. I want to fix it but I also don't want to lose the traffic that has been coming to the site via the misspelt alias. So I added the following line to my .htaccess file just below Drupal's rewrite rules:
  redirect 301 /Hampton-Court-SA http://www.mysite.co.za/hampton_park_sa

This would have worked except for the fact that Drupal seemingly adds a query string at the end so the redirect then fails. The URL in the browser ends up being this:

Drupal vs Wordpress - the debate simplified

Hi Folks

Recently I have had more people asking me for a "Wordpress" site, where more often than not, what they actually mean is a site built on a CMS. Whether it's Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, etc they really don't know the difference. It seems that the name "Wordpress" is starting to encompass the concept of a CMS.

So that obviously starts the conversation of how Drupal is different to Wordpress (my usual answer: "they're similar but different - Drupal is a lot more powerful")
