Portfolio (skiss-stadiet)

Hej!

Cautiously requesting some framework guidance

Hey Drupal community,

I have embarked on a bit of a scary journey in the past couple of weeks. I'm in the process of starting my first business, and I decided that eCommerce fit what I had planned. My main purpose for this post is to try to understand what sort of work I am really in for. Could someone please offer their suggestion for a list of applicable modules, and a brief explanation of the things I'll have to learn to complete my sites. For the moment I'll start by explaining the 1st site, because I haven't really done anything for the other 2 yet.

First up: World Art Box

Designer Contribution

I thought I would start a discussion regarding the ability for designers to be able to contribute to Drupal and a possible way in which this could be achieved. I'm warey about posting this in any of the issue queues at the moment as I wanted to get some initial feedback first.

The idea would be to have an additional project type created titled "Graphics" which could have some form of categorization for designers to be able to contribute a variety of graphics to help others and to start collaborative projects with themers and developers.

Responsive web design and Media Queries in IE

Hi guys,

Recently I came across a JS plugin that allows media queries to work in Internet Explorer 6 - 9.
https://github.com/scottjehl/Respond This is a very lightweight javascript file.

I have tested this myself and it seems to work like a charm. (tested on a Windows computer with IE 6 - 8)

For Responsive images you can use the Filamente group's js plugin.

What do you guys think ? any drawbacks ?

Best Base News Template?

I am looking to convert to Drupal, from another platform. I want Drupal's stability. I'm looking for advice on the best template to use as a base for a news site. I'm not looking to spend months building a theme from the granular level in order for it to be useable, but a template that is "ready for move in." I like the OP theme, but it comes with too much baggage, and I like the ProsePoint theme, but the same reservations. My needs are the following:

  1. Three-column.
  2. image captions.

Any suggestions?
