Contextual Views

I'd like to seed a discussion on Contextual overrides for views 2 module, a possible extension to the Interests module (Which i originally developed while working at Agileware and still partly maintain). I would also like to point out contextual based modules already exist, but they are not what this module has in mind.

To give some background on the idea...

Non-node profiles + set number of nodes per user?

I'm looking at content profile and wondering if I can:
-have basic profiles controlled with the core D6 profile module, (like "Basic Information" in profile)
-AND have two specific content types that a user can create, but only once. (They'll function sort of as profile extenders.)

So it's not quite user profiles, but I wonder if content profile can do that - have two node types tied to users but not set as their profile. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to configure that, with or without content profile?

Thanks!

Alpha launch: Drupal Essentials distribution - opinions needed.

For the past several months we have been working on a D6.x recipe for a web 2.0 style business/organization website, e.g. brochureware + portal. We have been using the old copy the database method to start new sites. However, over the holidays we decided to make profile out of the recipe. We weren’t anticipating it being that difficult, but now it’s close to done. I would like to get some opinions before we launch it officially.

You can download the entire distribution here:

Can we ever get a usable community site out of the box with Drupal? (Theorical question, opinions wanted)

Hi there!

I´ve been around this group for a while, and there have been a lot of new "drupal-for-2.0-community" stuff lately.
Anyway, there´s this thing that´s bothering me since I´ve started to get my hands dirty with Drupal, and I really need to hear what you think about:
Drupal core profiles: They are not able to be managed as nodes (duh!), and you always need some contrib module to do that for you. Can we get a usable out of the box community site?

Panels, profiles and Tabs

I posted this question in the Profiles as Nodes group, but thought it may be appropriate here as well.
Basically, I'd like to have a fairly complicated profile. I'd like to combine the advanced profile kit's panels with nodeprofile, and have this linked to the user account. Basically, I want 4 things:
1. When users go to www.example.com/profiles/member-name, it brings up member-name's public profile, which of course is in a panel page.

tagging like facebook 'interests'?

i'm working on social networking site and currently trying to figure out a way to create something similar to facebook's "interests" section. (ex. i type in a comma separated list of my interests and they show up in my profile as links to a search query of ppl with that interest.)

it seems that "tagging" oneself with interests can automatically provide links to the taxonomy term corresponding to the interest, and there are lot of taxonomy modules to provide addt'l functionality...but i have a few questions:

Drupal for a Personnel/HR Database

Has anyone used Drupal in an HR or Personnel database sort of scenario? I imagine that this would stretch the profile area or would mean some heavy CCK work. I'm thinking about this sort of application internally at an organization I work with as we track a lot of non-standard information due to the nature of our work and would appreciate your thoughts.

User CCK

Do you know of a module that would/could tie a user profile to a CCK created content-type?
Here's our problem: we are moving away from CiviCRM (don't get me started with the issues). Can we tie a particular content-type (or multiple content-types) through the use something like the Subforms modules to user profiles? Can we then let user creation spawn two records-- a user record; and a new node coupled to the user record? Then the content node could be used in isolation; or the user account could be edited later and those changes would alter the associated node?

Question about user profile

Hi folks,

I'd like to make a couple of fields that I added to the user profile view only. Only the admin will be able to enter new users. Users can update their profiles but I want to prevent them from changing a couple of fields. I'm using Drupal 5.7 with the profiletabs module.

I realise this is probably obvious but I'm stuck as I am still pretty new to Drupal. I've searched and searched for the answer and also posted it on the support forum with no response.

Can you please stir me in the right direction? I'm prepared to buy you a beer! :)

Thanks!

-Francisco
