There are a number of proposals from last year that either didn't make the cut or, in a couple of rare cases, didn't result in a successful project. Are there proposals from the GSoC 2008 group that worth bringing over the GSoC 2009 group? I'm going to put some work in organizing the group, and I was thinking it might be a good way to populate the idea section with some content.

He is my application. It about Google Contacts API integration into Drupal

Is there any interest in having one or more Summer of Code students to work on this? Here at OSU we're getting some pings from potential applicants on working on OpenID 2.0 server support in D6. We'd be delighted to point some of our mentor and SoC student resources at this project. Especially adding support for AX, etc.

Google announced that they will open up Youtube's API . This means sites can have the ability to upload video transparently. The API is here.

Sites can have a chromeless player (non Youtube branded) too.

A proposal to integrate tool with drupal to create mozilla firefox addon for the every site created by any user based on drupal. It can be implemented by integrating a feature at the installation process, to ask the user if he/she wants a mozilla firefox addon for his/her site then it will ask further details about what features user wants to add in the addon. The addon using drupal API will show content from the site based on drupal. Since the API is same in all case, a common process for every site will be used.

I am Garthee from Sri Lanka, who did uLink (universal filtering of links at real time and auto completion of links through AJAX ) for GSOC ’07. As I am still at University, I would like to apply once more and here is my idea…

The problem at hand is authorization / permission control in Drupal.

For the second year in a row, Google is putting on a Summer of Code Mentor Summit at their Mountainview Campus on Oct. 6, to allow all the projects to come together and share success stories, advice, lessons learned, and brainstorm about how to make the project better. Each project gets to send up to 3 delegates to the summit.

Here's the list of Drupal folks who will be attending:

1. Rok Žlender, who was a successful SoC student turned successful SoC mentor, as well as just an awesome guy all around. :) Google loves getting to meet the faces behind their success stories. :)
2. Ruben D. Canlas Jr., who is a Drupal SoC veteran, and has offered testing and useful advice to several students in the SoC-2007 group.
3. Simon Hobbs, who is a SoC first-timer whose student couldn't say enough nice things about him, and who was very active both in #drupal-soc and in the SoC-2007 group providing advice.
