Multiple Calendars

I wanted to poll this group to see what is the best way to manage access control multiple calendars in drupal.

I have a site where I need to be able to create some calendars public and some calendars private.

I need to control which users / roles has permissions to add an event to the calendar and which users /roles can view the calendar's events.

So far the only techniques I can think of are
1. Use Event content type with tags - create a vocabulary for Calendars with each term as a calendar - restrict with a taxonomy access control module

Starting a DrupalCamp Install Profile for Drupal 6

In 2009, LA Drupal gave our DrupalCamp L.A. site code away to the world for other groups to adopt that would hopefully help spark new DrupalCamps across the world. At the time of its release we could only provide a ZIP file with the database dump and a folder of modules. Handfuls of user groups adopted our code and started to give us feedback. Up until now there has been no official documentation, instructions, or anything that would help get a new DrupalCamp site up painlessly. That is about to change.

Events module

Hi,
I'm looking for a module to help me have events sent by users.
¿Possibly a new content type?

Cannot find anything for "Events" on this list.

I think it'd be very useful. Is there such a module?

Incorporating ical functions into Drupal Event Website

We're creating a small Drupal event website and would like to give users the ability to add the event to outlook, gmail, yahoo and so forth. Best example is http://ssusa.eventbrite.com/ under "when" on the right hand side. Can someone point me to documentation on integrating this functionality within Drupal? Thanks much!

Getting DrupalCon flashbacks? Wish you could have gone and want an intimate taste?

The updated web site and a call for session presenters are imminent.
Plan something fresh, exciting, and yes, design-related. Got any case studies?
Not just for designers and themers; project managers, developers, and
the curious are also welcomed. We're also discussing a dedicated job fair soiree.

REMINDER: Tomorrow's Beer and Drupal Meetup (Tuesday, April 27)

Hey everyone,

Just a friendly reminder that TOMORROW (Tuesday, April 27) is the date of our monthly "Beer and Drupal" Meetup.

What is this event? It's an informal meetup each month to work on our own individual Drupal projects in the company of other Drupalers. The idea is that you can work on your own project, ask a question to your neighbor if you're stuck, chat with others about your brilliant Drupal start-up idea, and then take a beer break whenever you want.

Best practice: Eventcalendar with location guide with D6 2010

Hey there,

as I am planning to create a new Eventsite which features publishing/sharing event data, some location guide and the according search options (search by time/region/proximity etc) and I am still quite new to Drupal, I'd like to collect some input on the currently best ways to do.

What I understood so far:
- Prefer use of Date/Calendar module instead of Event module due to better CCK/Views integration and higher flexibility
- Use Location module for the venue date (together with gmap module) instead of Addresses and co

Map displaying all events

Now that g.d.o has been upgraded to D6 is there any chance of creating a location based map for all events? Something like the map in http://central.wordcamp.org/ but with some views filtering options would be very cool way of browsing events and quite easy to implement. We are starting to have so many Drupal events every year that it's difficult to keep track on what's going on. Map with filtering by event type and dates would be a huge improvement on usability.
