What is the difference between "OpenScholar" and "OpenScholar Virtual Site"?

I'm not sure what the significance of OpenScholar Virtual Site is., or even really, what it is.

It's listed as a subproject of OpenScholar, and my inclination is that it is the bundle of modules to install in sites/modules to enable a regular Drupal site with all of the OpenScholar functionality.

Is this correct? And if not then what?

If it is correct, are there any issues I should watch out for when installing and also, is it safe to install all in one fell sweep with Drush?

Urgent! For the latest version of openScholar, Can followers of one blog page at openScholar post a comment on this blog page?

Re: Urgent! For the latest version of openScholar, Can followers of one blog page at openScholar post a comment on this blog page like here?

Hello,

We are now evaluating if openScholar latest version is suitable to be used privately only for the staff of our organization. We have searched all the app doc and the Web, we only found the following info about the above issue:
Blog feature
http://scholar.harvard.edu/help/vsitehelp/Blog-feature

If we have to add a module to the app for the above function, I hope this should not be a big job.

Multilanguage Openscholar site

Dear all,

I am trying to build a multilanguage site in Openscholar. I would like to know if anybody was successful.

I try to make the language switcher appears on the Scholar site, but it does not work. It does appear in the administrator site. Also, I cannot make the translation tab work when entering a new page.

Any help appreciated.

I am using OpenScholar beta 13.

Michel

Distributions Summit in San Diego

We had a very productive Distro Summit at SANDcamp this week https://www.sandcamp.org/drupal-distribution-summit There was an excellent dialog on both technical and business topics. There was distro maintainer representation from Acquia, Phase2, LevelTen, Four Kitchens, ChapterThree, ImageX, Lullabot and many others. There were 46 attendees who engaged in a full day discussion on various topics. We will be holding another Distro Summit later this year. I am writing a summary and resource document for distro maintainers and the community. It should be available within two weeks.

is it recommended to apply security updates or wait for openscholar update

On a normal Drupal installation, we would apply security updates for Core and modules as soon as possible. But, in the case of OpenScholar, is that the recommended practice? Or it is advisable to wait for the next release of OpenScholar. (Obviously a risk.)

I ask because OpenAtrium (another install profile) recommends waiting, but they publish updates more quickly it seems. https://community.openatrium.com/documentation-en/node/1985

I'm not sure if it is advisable to wait in general when using an installation profile or if that's just how OpenAtrium does it.

Bugs mainly in I10n(locale)

I'm chinese, when using openscholar, I can't translate some english words in openscholar into chinese. Some lines of code lake the drupal's t() funtion.

I added the t() funtion and they work fine now. see below:

sites/all/themes/openscholar/scholar_base/templates/page.tpl.php

        $login_link = theme('vsite_login_link',t("Log in"),array('class' => 'footer-login'));

Single website for openscholar?

Hi,

we would like to use openscholar for our lab's webpage and we want just a single web-page. Hence the question: if our website URL is kobi.de how can we unsure that browser front page is kobi.de/kobi (the actual website), instead of showing kobi.de/welcome, which lists all available websites? Since we have just one, it is redundant and looks silly. We've found an option to change the front page, which is by default "welcome", but it is read only (we use beta 12). What is the standard work around for this? Should we wait for beta 13?

Cheers,
Sasha Pastukhov

openScholar sites restriction from LDAP groups.

Hello,

I successfully installed openScholar with ldap authentication enabled and all our ldap groups are mapped to drupal roles (ldap_integration and extended_ldap_groups modules).
Now I have a few dozens ldap groups as drupal roles and I'd like to allow access to openScholar sites to selected groups.

For instance, a teacher creates a new site for his course. He wants to allow access to the site only to students registered to his course (these students are members of the ldap group for this course).
