A plea for help

Hi All,

I am very new to Drupal (using version 6.19) and am struggling like crazy to setup a somewhat very simple family website.

My main problem is my inability to determine which modules I should use (and how) in order to obtain the desired results regarding the posting of pictures and videos.

My requirements are the following:

adidas and Coty launch video contest for High School kids

adidas and Coty launched the "adidas Moves Pulse" web site on 9/15/2010 to promote the new Moves Pulse fragrance for the teen market.

High School kids create an original short video of their "move" and upload it, then vote for videos. The top 16 videos will proceed to a tournament style bracket and the winner gets $1000 in adidas merch and $15K for the school.

I am the sole developer who built the website with Drupal 6 in 7 weeks, using the Mediafront module and OSM player, and video transcoding with encoding.com

Development release of Internet Archive module up

As part of the last phase of the Knight News Challenge grant I've been working to create a module to automate transfers to Archive.org of files available to Drupal. The development release is now ready, and we're continuing to test it here at Denver Open Media. My thanks go out to John Hauser at Access Humboldt, and the team at Archive.org who helped me navigate the S3-like interface and provided invaluable feedback in regards to handling metadata.

Beta Test Evaluation

I'm completing an evaluation of the two-year OMP Beta-Test for Knight.
I'd love any help reaching Lane or Kate, as I want to get some opinions from them and PetePO about the disturbing fact that half of the point-people designated to manage the OMP for the beta-test partners were let go (or quit) within a few months of the initial implementation.

I'd also very much like to hear from all the partners about any unanticipated challenges or benefits.

You can post them to comments below, or email me at Tony at Open Media Foundation Org.

video-6.x-4.0-beta1 Released

6.x-4.0-BETA1 Has now been released. I am releasing this as beta as there have been major changes and additions and I think its stable enough for a beta. We still need help testing this before its implemented in a production environment. This is a rewrite of the 6.x-3.x branch. The major improvements are listed below:

* FTP Video Attach. (Ability to FTP all your videos at once and then attach the videos through a drop-down)
* FLVTool2 integration.

Importing and round-tripping RDF in Drupal

Importing catalogues

We need to import arbritary catalogues (spreadsheets) into RDFable Drupal nodes.

We suggest the following as a way forward: before implementing this, we want to see if this would be useful to the broader Drupal RDF community, and whether it is compatible with other existing proposals:

Option 1: Dynamically create content types

For each import format dynamically create a node type that matches the field structure. Provide an RDF mapping for the created node type to enable the imported items to be tagged up with RDF.

Option 2: Define a generic content type for imports

Spreadsheets are imported into two node types. The 'header' includes the spreadsheet file and information about it's structure. A second content type is used to import each row. A row is a list of attributes taken from the column data for that row.

We also need to consider round-tripping issues, as follows:

Content Sharing Status in the OMP

The Open Media Foundation's last deliverable for the Open Media Project Knight Foundation grant is a shared content solution for the OMP partners. Our proposed solution differs from existing solutions in that we want to enable automated or user-driven content-sharing, as opposed to the admin-focused solutions that exist with PEGMedia or the ACM/Telvue solution... For example, we want a community member in San Fran, searching for "Cambodian Comedy" videos to see the matching files in SF, and also see a lower-tier of search results from other OMP partner sites.
