But what does it mean exactly to make curriculum open source? Is it as simple as providing a link to download the resources I use to teach the class (such as Drupalize.me's Community Tools curriculum)? Do I need to decide between a particular open source license (GPL, MIT, etc) and create rules for fair use?

Maybe someone can point me to a prior discussion or article around this topic?

I've realized from the discussion regarding TCDrupal sponsorship of events, there is enough of a critical mass for me to decide that open sourcing the curriculum for Enjoy Drupal: Site Building Basics is the way to go. I've been telling folks informally that I'm happy to share it so long as they don't charge for the event, so why not make it "official"?

We are starting a new way of training which is self paced with mentoring. We are still offering our online classes as well, though focusing on "beginning systems administration" for the time being. I'm trying to create a training system through drupal, starting with a dashboard. Something that tracks progress, gives admins or managers more control, etc. Haven't gotten any good details yet on what is needed... I'm just trying to figure out how to make it work. There seem to be several dashboard modules for drupal, like Total Control (one I'm trying to figure out now), but next to no documentation on any of the ones I could find.

Any ideas on where to start?
