Hi,

I'm currently studying up on some new practices and when I'm done, I should share the knowledge with all you guys. But this means putting together a few slides and traveling to the nearest Drupal meet to give a presentation. So only my local group benefits directly. The rest of Australia will never know how awesome I am and that breaks my heart.

One thing we talked about at the BoF in San Francisco was the value of having a place where people could gather and work together, help and be helped. So, inspired by all of you, a few of us at UC Berkeley have started up a monthly Builders Lounge for in-person collaboration, support, and general Drupalitude.

First meeting will be Tuesday May 4 at 3:30 pm on the Berkeley campus - see the event posting for more details. I hope some of you Bay Area Drupalchix can come!

Since I haven't done any development work in Drupal to date, I thought I could contribute by listing some of the pertinent resources I have been exploring over the past year that seem to be part of "the solution" (if there is a single solution).

I've been asked by a client about group-enabled RTEs within Drupal. The goal is a collaborative RTE user experience that aggregates inputs and edits from multiple Drupal users on single nodes, ideally with user-identification (color codes, user names) and document history. Does anything like this exist? Thanks a lot.

I wanted to reset this discussion on how Public Access and related media initiatives would benefit from collaboration in a wide range of areas from development, documentation, training, funding/fundraising, marketing, promotion, business, hosting, sales, and services.

What an awesome event this past Saturday!

For those of you who were there, at the end of the workshop we had discussed conducting some sort of event where people could work together to build out their sites and deal with any problems they might have in a more personal setting.

My colleague Kev Walsh recently helped out at a Drupal Barnraising in Paris, and I'm just wondering out loud about the opportunity for us to do something like this locally.

Amazee (http://amazee.com) is a cool new social collaboration platform implemented in Drupal. It offers a free platform for people to come together and collaborate online on projects. Features include a project magazine (with cool drag and drop functionality), wiki, events calendar, discussion forums, sponsoring etc. Amazee is a great showcase for many things Drupal is good at including a great user interface.

Maybe it is an interesting candidate for a d.o front page showcase? Here is a summary of recent press coverage:

I would like to raise a discussion about the prospect of the Drupal community using a system that allows collective design, funding and development of any Drupal project.

Think about it this way: if the Knight Drupal Initative is the Google summer of code for Drupal, what I'm proposing is a Google year of code for Drupal, only there is no single entity such as Google or DKI funding projects, the funds come from community. My partner and I have already implemented a solution that makes that possible (www.fossfactory.org). I would like to hear from you about how suitable this model is for the Drupal community at large.
