triDUG

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Only local images are allowed. Our mission is to connect Drupal users in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and surrounding areas. We get together monthly for presentations, site demonstrations, and hack nights. Our goal is to help new Drupal users get up to speed, foster the development of existing Drupal designers and Developers, and contribute to the larger Drupal community. The Research Triangle has a big concentration of technical folks, universities, and start-ups and we want to expose as many people as possible to Drupal and all that it offers.

Custom Validation for CCK Field

I added a word custom count validation function to a CCK field using #element_validate and am running into problems. The correct error message shows up when someone submits the form with too many words. However, this doesn't seem to be preventing the form from submitting. Here's my code. I would really, really appreciate any help you can offer.

uh oh

I can't get to my modules. This is the message that comes up:

Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /home/content/m/a/r/markcissi/html/sites/all/modules/admin_menu/admin_menu.inc on line 536

I have no idea.......... 536 is in this area. Any help is greatly appreciated.

// Make sure everything is rebuilt, basically a combination of the calls
// from system_modules() and system_modules_submit().

menu

What I thought would be simple of course has me perplexed. I am using simplemenu module. One of my pages is titled photo galleries. I've made multiple differing galleria and put them under photo galleries. What I am trying to do now is make the actual photo gallery page not a link. I loaded the specialmenuitems module thinking it sounded like exactly what I needed. The read me text explains how to insert nolink or separator into the path field. What path field? I created a test page and inserted nolink into the url path box but the page is still a link. Thanks for any assistance.

Limiting the number of posts of a specific type by user

Good Day
I am trying to build a classified ad system where an individual can pay to have a classified ad posted to the site. UberCart seems to support this by reassigning a role of say "advertiser", which is needed. (Actually, this could be handled manually for the small number of expected users)

This would be fine if people were only allowed to post 1 ad at a time - filter to only the latest post. But how can I accommodate someone who wants to place 4 ads? None of the current classified ad modules seem up to the task.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Steven

I patched core!!!1eleven

Let me preface this by saying I feel like a complete cheeseball for a number of reasons:

  1. my first patch was adding the // $Id$ tag to the top of jquery.js in Drupal 7, this is not rad
  2. (this is so embarrassing) It took three patches before I got it right.

next meetup

Just curious if there are any plans in the works for another get together. I went to the one on June 18th and was hooked. I'm a newbie to all this. I left Mercados on June 18 with all of my issues addressed, many thanks to Sheena and Alex, as well as all the others who were there. Well of course since then other problems/questions have arisen, me being new to all this am becoming aggravated and frustrated, I need a group intrvention.

How to find what db tables are changed for each module OR how to deploy and maintain a live site

Is there an easy way of finding out what db tables are changed for each module?
I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out how to deploy and maintain my website. The live version is a community website, so users will be adding content. On the development side, I'll be making changes. I need to figure out if there's a way to only deploy the setting changes to the live version, so I don't clobber data the users have added. I'd rather not put the live site into maintenance mode as I fiddle with changes, and I certainly would like to avoid making changes to the live site while its live.

Triangle Linux User's Group call for presentations

I just spotted this this afternoon: looks like TriLUG is looking for presenters. Given the # of Joomla questions that have popped up in that group recently this might be a good opportunity to spread a little enlightenment.

Discussion about June Meeting Time/Venue

Hi All,

I got a little confused when scheduling June's Meeting. I accidentally posted the date as Thursday, June 4th here and on Meetup.com, when really it should have been Wednesday, June 3rd, which is the day that we have a Venue available.

No matter what they day, we do not have the RTP Headquarters available to us, instead we will have a classroom at the Park Research Center as the Venue (very close to the RTP Headquarters), although we're not 100% guaranteed to have that Venue on the 4th, but we are guaranteed to have it on the 3rd.

Great Drupal API Resource

If you haven't seen it already, Lullabot launched their own Drupal API site at http://api.lullabot.com/.

I'm finding it amazingly helpful already. It includes the API for contributes modules and some excellent module examples.

See you at the next meeting,
Julia

Calendar Presentation: suplemental material

Hey all, I wanted to post a quick apology for tonight's presentation. I feel like a lot of material got glossed over which was entirely my fault for trying to cram a couple hours of (ideally hands-on) material into a 45 minute talk. I'm going to post up some additional materials and related links in the next couple of days to try to shed a little more light on some of the areas that didn't get covered well or got skipped entirely due to time constraints.

Item the first: a quick writeup on Views arguments.

FCKEditor Configuration

I'm working on a site with an audience that will want to use a WYSIWYG Editor for content updates. Currently I'm trying to set up FCKEditor for the site. Everything looks good except there are some options in the FontFormat dropdown that I would like to remove. I've tried following the instructions on the FCKEditor site <a href="http://docs.fckeditor.net/FCKeditor_2.x/Developers_Guide/Configuration/Configuration_File>here, but changes to FCKConfig.FontFormats in fckconfig.js aren't getting applied to the site editor.

Submit Proposals for Presentations

Hi Everyone,

It's about time to start planning our next Meeting (not counting the Hack Night) and I think this would be a good place for folks to start throwing out some proposals for presentations they would like to do, or they would like to see others do, and also to comment on others' proposals and get an idea of which would be the most popular.

So, give a title and brief description of your proposal, the estimated time it would take, and also the target skill level.
