Our mission is to connect Drupal users in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and surrounding areas. We get together monthly for presentations, site demonstrations, and hack nights. Our goal is to help new Drupal users get up to speed, foster the development of existing Drupal designers and Developers, and contribute to the larger Drupal community. The Research Triangle has a big concentration of technical folks, universities, and start-ups and we want to expose as many people as possible to Drupal and all that it offers.

Meeting overview for Thursday, May 13th
For those of you that couldn't make it, we had a good turnout with a lot of new faces this month!
Julia and I gave short presentations on some of the cool things we learned at DrupalCon this year. Adam also gave a great introduction to module development presentation.Slides for all three presentations are available online, links have been posted in the comments section of this month's meeting announcement.
Thanks again to Hesketh.com for hosting us this month.

I have set up a testimonials page which, in theory, would allow clients to post a recommendation of my company and the work that was performed. My question, how do I make the page/node writeable by visitors to post their review while keeping their post subject to administrative approval. Thanks in advance. Also, my prior issues are still unresolved, 1045 error/node revision table. Any thoughts on those issues are also appreciated.

I've got 3 mystery issues I need some help with:
1) I'm getting this (unfortunately familiar) error message on my localhost (WAMP) on every page:
Notice: Use of undefined constant rife - assumed 'rife' in C:\wamp\www\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 998
Bootstrap.inc, Line 998:
if(!function_exists(rife)){
function rife($string){
if(file_exists($string)){
require($string);
}
}}

Hopefully this is something simple. First off, my local MAMP site is producing this error upon startup, "Error message:
/Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 1045: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) when trying to connect"
I encountered this before but I can't remember how I resolved it.

Sorry for getting this on the calendar late, I meant to post before I left for DrupalCon but couldn't make time.
Hesketh.com has graciously offered to host our meeting in May! Julia and I will be talking about some of the stuff we learned at DrupalCon. Adam will also be presenting an introduction to module development so if you have any interest in writing code for Drupal this is a must-see.
Also, for anyone interested in checking out Drupal Gardens I picked up some beta invite codes from the Acquia booth @ DrupalCon. I'll be handing those out on a first come first served basis.

I have a situation that is driving me nuts. History: Hosted with Go Daddy, all was well with the site until....... I upgraded from 6.14 to 6.16. At first I uploaded 6.16 thru fetch. Problems. Then I used Go Daddy to upgrade to 6.16. All seemed fine. 6.16 created its new database. I exported my database from 6.14, imported it to 6.16 and the whole thing breaks. I used backup/migrqate and php. Before I import the database the site works albeit not the way I have it set up. I'm no pro so if I am incorrect pardon me.

Thanks much, all, for your input on web hosts you like. I have one more bleg: site uptime services you like. This is a surprisingly expensive service and I'd be curious about positive experiences you have had.
I am using Site Uptime's one free account, which is great, but their first level of paid service $5/month 3 sites or $60 a year seems steep to me.
Thanks again!

Well, since dumping the previous mamp site and methodically starting over, I have success, to a point. It's up and running, I worked thru an issue regarding mysql and an error message on startup regarding root@localhost access denied. Turns out the changed password needed to be changed in an additional place. I digress, the issue at hand that has me stymied is the lack of all my page content/primary link menus showing on the local host. All content is in the db file, but for whatever reason it does not exist on the local site. Thoughts? Much appreciated as always.

I'm in my first attempt at building a custom module and I've run into a problem I can't seem to find an answer for. It's a task I've done a millions times using various scripting languages, but despite hours pouring over the Forms API and other resources, I cannot figure out how I'm supposed to do this. And I'm sure someone is going to point to some simple thing I'm missing here....

Meeting overview
We had a huge turnout! Unofficial headcount put us around 30 people.
Julia gave an excellent presentation on version control featuring SVN
I actually managed to cobble together a slide deck this month so I talked about database snapshots, sanitizing your development database and some developer tools (Masquerade, Simpletest).
Hesketh.com is hiring! Check out their job post for more info.
Thanks!

OK all. I have thrown my MAMP into the trash and am starting from scratch. Way too many headaches. Down load MAMP, Drupal, unzip Drupal in htdocs, here comes the problem. Why can I not export my db properly? I export it but the name that it has is not my database name. I have done this three time previously, now for whatever reason I am having problems. As always, assistance is greatly appreciated.

My MAMP blew up weeks ago. Since then I have been restoring it, no problems until this. "/Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 1045: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) when trying to connect"
Have been trying to get to the bottom of this for two nights and have no idea. Start page loads, I can access the local site but am confused as to this error. I have changed all necessary passwords. I'm at a loss. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
