Our mission is to connect Drupal users in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and surrounding areas. We get together monthly for presentations, site demonstrations, and hack nights. Our goal is to help new Drupal users get up to speed, foster the development of existing Drupal designers and Developers, and contribute to the larger Drupal community. The Research Triangle has a big concentration of technical folks, universities, and start-ups and we want to expose as many people as possible to Drupal and all that it offers.

Need to Vent
Instead of actually accomplishing things the past week I've been trying to debug... Drupal, my install, MySQL. I literally spend ALL day working (not for pay) on this.
Cron will not run. It fails indefinitely.
I finally got one install (I duplicated my site on another server, with the same error) to work by uninstalling getID module. So I go to the other install and do the same thing, nothing.

Read moreAccess problem with image gallery
Something is screwy with image gallery since I upgraded from Drupal 5 to 6. I only use image galleries on one site, huntresses.org, which is a family site. Anonymous users aren't supposed to see any content. I use front page to say that you have to register. When I upgraded from 5 to 6, the Images menu item started showing on huntresses.org for anonymous. It is the only item in the menu. Originally it let me click through the galleries and it would display the full images (the nodes). Now the images show in the galleries but the image nodes are no longer displayed. So I've made some progress.

Hi folks, I'm wondering if you have any suggestions because we're at the end of our rope! The web site I manage has been hit with a flood of new user registrations that are NOT people authentically trying to join our community. Since this started on October 1st, we have been getting approximately 10 new users per hour, 24-7. The IP addresses are almost always unique and the profile information is different each time, sometimes with spammy links, sometimes not.
Read moreHow to set notifications for new users
I'm trying to switch from the notify module to notifications. I would like new users to have as default settings to receive notifications of creation, update, and comments for content types events, forums, and book pages (I call book pages "resource items"). I don't see a way to do this. New users don't have any subscriptions. They have to set each one.
With the notify module, in notify.module, there's code for inserting a new user and I've been able to modify it to:
at case 'insert':
if (isset($edit['notify_decision']) && $edit['notify_decision'] == 1){
Anyone have Drupal 6 SEO book?
Has anyone bought/read Drupal 6 Search Engine Optimization, yet? (http://www.amazon.com/Drupal-6-Search-Engine-Optimization/dp/1847198228/...) I'd like to read it, but I didn't want to pay $40.
I can trade Front End Drupal: Designing, Theming, Scripting for a bit if someone is willing to lend it.
Thanks.
Best Drupal Book for Content Managers
Hello - I've seen a number of book reviews in various Drupal groups... most (if not all) focus on applicability for developers. Are there any books that would be most ideal for content managers of pre-existing Drupal sites? Basic how-to, navigation, terminology, etc? A supplemental training aid for those non-technical folks who manage the day-to-day content management.
Thanks for your input.
Read moreSWF and 'clickable' images
Has anyone used SWFtools for a image slideshow where each image is clickable to a different url?
I have found a module I believe does this, but it looks like it's not maintained at all and doesn't even have a non-dev D6 release. SWFAddress is the module.
This would be a good 5-10 minute presentation, I think. Unless everyone has done this but me, which I hope is not the case. :\

I keep getting this error message when running cron. I've spent a good amount of time researching but haven't found anything addressing bootstrap.inc specifically. Any insight?

I just completed an upgrade from Drupal 5 with CiviCRM 2.0 to Drupal 6 with CiviCRM 2.2 on a site with multisite hosting. Perhaps my experiences will help someone else.
I lack sysadmin skills but can use basic UNIX commands and copy and paste MySQL and php. In most cases, Google helped when I got stuck.
I have two installations:
(1) test.nccommunities.org where folks learn how things work, test upgrades, and try out new modules. The site also offers CiviCRM with sample data for people to explore.
(2) nccommunities.org which has seven additional sites running under it.
Read moreUser List
I have a list of organization members that is about 1100 strong. They want me to create a basic user account for each that allows them forum access. I am wondering if it is possible to automate this? This list is an excel spreadsheet so I can export the data in a number of formats. I have found that it takes several minutes for every person to do them one at a time and I know for a fact that I will screw up doing that many of them. So, I was hoping to find a way to have the computer do it for me.

Google can act as the mail server for domains. Is anyone using this with a Drupal site? How well is it working? Does it work well with notifications? Newsletters? Are there any gotchas?

Really Need Help with iCal Feed
I am looking with someone experienced with importing iCal feeds to meet with. I just want someone to look over what I've done and see if there is a blatant error I've caused. I am getting most of the data imported, just not "to date". And the attempt to import the data seems to hang up cron.
I live in the Cary/Apex area, would be willing to travel to Morrisville or Raleigh though. Meet me at a Caribou (free wifi) and I'll purchase you a large coffee of your choice!

So, I don't even know where to begin.
I am importing iCal feeds (Google Calendar specifically) using FeedAPI, Calendar, iCal parser, Date, etc, etc. I had some crazy issues that are mostly resolved now. But my one hangup I cannot remedy.
Cron will not stop running. In other words, I cannot run cron because it won't stop. If I try to run it manually I get the "Cron run Failed" or something like that.
I have done everything with deleting the cron variables, emptying cache, sacrificing small animals, hung a horseshoe over my pc, all to no avail.

Fight Back! is a grassroots newspaper that exists to build the people's struggle and “provides coverage and analysis of some of the key battles facing working and low-income people”. The newspaper was founded in 1999 by a core of activists who wanted an independent publication to help with their organizing efforts for social justice, peace, and equality. Ten years and nearly two thousand articles later, an all-volunteer staff and dozens of correspondents across the country report (in English and Spanish) from the front lines of the most important struggles facing working and oppressed peoples in the United States and internationally.
CMS / Drupal
Hello,
I am the Coordinator of Interactive Media at Elon University. I work in the iMedia department and we are in the process of searching for support for Drupal. We are writing a proposal to incorporate a CMS here in the department and we would like to see what sort of support and outreach lies within the Drupal Triangle community. We were wondering if there was someone we could bring to Elon to give us a 2-3 day workshop? We were also wondering what sort of workshops, sessions or even conferences were in the area? Any information about Drupal in the Triangle would be great.
Thank you,
Read moreDiagnosing broken RSS feeds
Hello,
I need help troubleshooting RSS feeds on a Drupal site. If I click on the feed with Safari, I get the message Safari can’t open the page “feed://website.com/feed.xml”. The error is: “The feed could not be loaded because the content is not in a known feed format.” (PubSub:2) Same thing with any custom feeds I set up using Views.
Basically, I am looking for some guidance on where to begin troubleshooting what is going on. RSS feeds always just seem to "work" without having to do anything with them, so now that it's not working, I have no idea where to look.
Thanks!
