triDUG

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Only local images are allowed. Our mission is to connect Drupal users in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and surrounding areas. We get together monthly for presentations, site demonstrations, and hack nights. Our goal is to help new Drupal users get up to speed, foster the development of existing Drupal designers and Developers, and contribute to the larger Drupal community. The Research Triangle has a big concentration of technical folks, universities, and start-ups and we want to expose as many people as possible to Drupal and all that it offers.

Propose a meeting topic here.
Find us on IRC at #drupal-nc and on Twitter at TriDUG

page titles problem

Running drupal version 6.16. For some unknown reason all my page titles say 'My title'. I've not made any customizations to the Garland theme I am using. I've even installed the Page Title module to see if I could get control of page titles, to no avail. I've got to fix this for SEO. Anybody have any idea what's going on here and how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Calling all prescients (inserting a block into a node for Drupal 7)

There are various ways to insert a block into a node in D6: "insert block" and "RepTag" (and directly via a php insert, which I've disabled for security reasons) Neither are showing the promise of D7 support. What alternatives might you suggest that will remain relevant going forward?

Breadcrumb mystery

Some day, I'm going to have the time to migrate to the real Drupal 6 site, but meanwhile, back at the loony bin:

I'm having trouble with my breadcrumbs on one section of my site and nowhere else-- child pages in http://naturalsciences.org/nature-research-center show Home and the current page, but not the parent (nature-research-center) page, i.e. the How Do We Know page would show:

"Home > How Do We Know" instead of:

"Home > Nature Research Center > How Do We Know"

Is there a Drupal equivalent of Google Groups and Docs?

Google groups, with Google docs, provides really good collaboration tools.

The last version of OG I used didn't allow you to reply to email -- you HAVE to go to the web page to reply. Is there a set of Drupal modules that provides the functions of Google groups?

And what about Google docs? It's so easy to share documents and spread sheets.

Simple menu question

I think this is simple anyways...

Let's say my primary menu has parent of 'Apple' with child menu items (pages) of Sour, Green, Red, and Bad.

Well, I've decided to make an actual page for 'Apple' and I want it to display Sour, Green, Red, Bad as menu options, but outside of the primary menu.

Example:

Main menu: Beets - Bears - Battlestar - Oranges - Pears - Apples - etc

Content of page:

Menu:Sour - Green - Red - Bad
photo gallery
blog
etc etc

Enabling a manual sort order on nodes + CCK

D6: I wish to enable a manual, visual sorting of nodes. I know I can create a CCK integer field so I can manually enter a number, but that seems too convoluted. Any suggestions?

July topics

If we have a meetup in July, I would be interested in someone talking about:

1) using CVS and how to set up something like SmartCVS. I was commissioned to patch a module but have no idea how to do it. I know what code to replace, but I'm by no means a programmer or network guy and I couldn't grasp all of what I needed to do. If you are familiar with 1 pixel out audio player, in this module it's referenced as "onepixelout" and it should be "swftools_onepixelout". Simple fix, theoretically!

Once again seeking sage advice..... 6.16 to 6.17

OK, I have held off on posting this question. For some reason I have been unsuccessful at updating 6.16 to 6.17. I have followed to the last letter the upgrade instructions but my status update still shows I am running 6.16 and is recommending an upgrade. I have tried what seems like 1/2 dozen times and still have not succeeded. Sorry if this seems trivial but it's got me going nuts. Thanks in advance.

Complicated View help

Howdy all,
I'm struggling with trying to generate a complicated View. Let me try explaining it and see if anyone can help.

So, my website RobotBox has the following:

Node: Robot
Node: User Profile
Node: Robot Club

Users create Robots.
Users create a User Profile (via Node Profile module and APK)
User Profiles have a field, Node Reference, to a Robot Club (via Node Relationships module)

Got it?
Now, here's what I want to do:
I want to create a view that shows all the robots created by all the users that belong to a certain club.

A series of alchemical experiments...

Ok, more like I've been tinkering with XMLRPC recently and I've found that it's really easy to write an XMLRPC service for Drupal. Being able to quickly and easily write remove services for your Drupal site opens up entire new worlds of possibility.

Use link to create post

  1. I have a story I want to share on my site.
  2. It is located on another site.

So, is there a way to use the link to create a post, much like one shares on facebook?

For those not familiar, you insert a link and a post is automatically created with title (linked to original website), teaser, and image if available.

I looked around for a module but did not see one.

Thanks!

Job postings here and consideration for the job candidates

I hope I'm not out-of-turn by posting the following sentiment. After having responded to a few solicitations for resumes or contracts here and not having received a single response, I would strongly encourage the companies making these solicitations to consider the time spent by candidates and the courtesy of a response, outside of the pro-forma "we got your submission" kind of boilerplate.

I expect that kind of flippancy from craigslist, not the Drupal community.
