Our mission is to connect Drupal users in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and surrounding areas. We get together monthly for presentations, site demonstrations, and hack nights. Our goal is to help new Drupal users get up to speed, foster the development of existing Drupal designers and Developers, and contribute to the larger Drupal community. The Research Triangle has a big concentration of technical folks, universities, and start-ups and we want to expose as many people as possible to Drupal and all that it offers.

Trouble with block, and content that should go into it
I have created a spotlight block to appear in the right sidebar. I have created a content type: "spotlight" to be referenced on certain other content types. Only thing is, my spotlight content is not appearing in the spotlight block in the right sidebar. Any ideas?
Read moreDetermining Server Needs
I am working on a community site which I hope will grow tremendously. I am not a systems person and would prefer not to have to move to different servers as the site grows. I know that this may mean going overboard in the early days.
Does anyone have a method for determining how much server a site needs? Concurrent visitors? Any specific issues to be aware of?
Thanks

Read moreDisplay problem on Permissions page
I have had this problem for a few weeks now, it's not critical but it is starting to get on my nerves.
On the Permissions page, each section (e.g. Comment, Contact, Content, etc) has full tags displayed with it.
Example: <span id="thmr_733" class="thmr_call"> node</span> module
Any ideas why this might be happening. I have to say I'm too sure how to troubleshoot this one.

Things *not* to do during Drupal website development
My lesson for the weekend is to remember to never point two Drupal instances at the same database using the same credentials, etc. Weird bad things happen that take hours and hours to figure out.
Yes, I did this. Even better, I did it with two different versions of Drupal 6, so the error messages were even weirder. Oy. That's several hours of my life I could have spent better. :-)
The takeaway lesson: When you are done messing about in a sandbox install of Drupal, make sure to completely dismantle it.

The little CONFIGURE box that pops up
OK, for some reason, the configure 'thing' (someone give me a better word) that appears when logged in as an admin when you hover over certain objects is taking over. The block for the configure is overlapping content I need to click on! Specifically Panels.
When I say configure, let me clarify that the link will look something like this:
mysite.com/admin/build/block/configure/...
Preferred blank theme
I've been using zen for themeing from scratch. However, I'd love to hear from others on their preferred blank themes. Thanks!
Read moreBest Text Editor
I need to find a new text editor. I have used UltraEdit for a while now and it works well on my desktop, but I cannot get it to work on my laptop (license issues). Oh yeah, and I pay for it!
So what are some good FREE text editors (for Windows, not Mac) just for doing basic functions involved in building a site using Drupal.

Read moreHow to suppress a certain warning message
I have a strange warning message that pops up when I submit nodes with images. I'm fairly certain it's a bug with Filefield. I thought it was this one http://drupal.org/node/311526, but they claim it's been fixed. Regardless, it's simply a warning, and doesn't break things.
Question: How can I suppress this message programatically? I know, I know. This is a HORRIBLE thing to do, but I'm busy and I need it to disappear now as opposed to me spending days tracking down the error. Is there some sort of preprocess function that I can use to delete a warning message? Thanks.

Read moreHow to notify user of new content of certain type via email
I don't know if my title is really descriptive of what I am trying to say here.
- Used CCK to crate node type called Announcement
- Used Views2 to create panel for front page which lists these Announcements
- I want a user to be able to subscribe (or be notified via email) to any new content of type Announcement
Ideas? I'm guessing there will be many modules involved here.
Here are modules I have installed which could be of use (I figure it's a matter of me not knowing how to use them):
Mime Mail, Simplenews.

I have successfully linked my drupal user profile with my Facebook account. Yet when I take the following path:
Log in > My Account > Facebook Connect
I am presented with this message:
"Your account is not linked with a Facebook account or you are not authorized to edit the Facebook connect settings of this account."
I have logged in as other users who have not used this feature (i.e. they may wish to connect their drupal user account with their facebook account eventually) and get the same message.
