Washington, DC Drupalers

Covers the basics of input formats in Drupal and extends to how contrib modules like Better Formats, WYSIWYG, and others use them. Also goes over the security issues that relate to input formats.

We will also have multi-purpose room for people that want to just get help with Drupal problems, BoF together around a topic, or simply help D7 get out the door faster.

The July Drupal meetup in Washington, DC will be on Monday, July 12, at 7:00 pm at Stetson's. As usual, we'll start the evening with quick introductions followed by a round of five minute lightning talks where anyone can take the floor to talk - for five minutes or less - about something Drupal related. So far, we have one talk lined up.

Alex Barth will talk about Kit, a compilation of tools and best practices that makes site building in Drupal easier and faster.

If you'd like to give a lightning talk, speak up! Post about your talk in the comments here and come to the meetup ready to present. You'll have access to a flatscreen if you'd like to show anything off, though there is not an internet connection. After the lightning talks, there will be plenty of time to talk in detail with the presenters and ask they any questions you have and just talk Drupal over some beers.

These meetups are open to everyone and are a great opportunity to meet local Drupal developers, learn more about the platform, and share what you're working on. Hope to see you there!

At Acquia we've been working with our partners, Chapter 3 LLC and Carahsoft to provide a public training event in Washington. Recently, Keiran Lal wrote about President Obama's Open Government Directive, and Drupal training is much in demand. Learners will get an experience with best practices in Drupal, with Jacob Reddin and Jen Lampton of Chapter Three. The week of July 12th, Lullabot will be offering two back-to-back Drupal development workshops at the Hotel Palomar, in Washington, DC. The workshops are Basic Drupal Module Development (July 12 & 13) and Advanced Drupal Development (July 14, 15, 16). You can sign up for each workshop individually, or sign up for the whole week, save some money, and become a Drupal development super-hero!

Lullabot Drupal experts Angie "Webchick" Byron and Jeff "Eaton" Eaton will be spending an entire week in beautiful Washington DC teaching attendees how to customize and extend Drupal and bend it to their will! Spend an entire week with Lullabot and get an in-depth understanding of Drupal programming.

The next DC Drupal meetup will be on Monday, June 14 at 7:00 pm at Stetson's Bar and Grill, and it will be a part of Digital Capital Week, which looks like it will be very awesome weeklong technology festival happening in the city. Hopefully we'll get to introduce Drupal and our DC group to some new folks :)

This month's meetup will focus on publishing with Drupal, with one demo of a publishing tool scheduled along with a talk on search, which is important to any publishing site as well as many others. As always the floor is open to anyone who'd like to talk - for five minutes - about something Drupal related. If you want to join the line up, just post in the comments or talk to me at the meetup.

Jeff Walpole from Phase2 Technology will walk through Open Publish, their Drupal distro for online publishing. Josh Brauer from Acquia will talk about support and hosting they're offering for Open Publish.

Young Hahn and Jeff Miccolisfrom Development Seed will talk about Searchlight, an experimental approach to pluggable search backends in Drupal that lets you leverage advanced search services like Solr or Sphinx interchangeably. He'll be blogging about it and an implementation we're working on for a client this week at http://developmentseed.org/blog, so if you want a sneak peak watch for that.
