This group is for everyone living in the DC metro area who's interested in Drupal. You can post here about anything relating to DC and Drupal, whether that's local job postings, events, or just a call out to talk shop over beers.
You can also find us in a couple of other places:
- Group on Meetup.com for events (they handle events better, with reminder emails and whatnot)
- Group on groups.drupal.org for discussions and job posts (that's here)
- #drupal-dc on freenode
- @DrupalDC on Twitter
We have a great meetup every month where we get together to connect in person. The target audience is Drupal developers, users, and people who want to learn more about Drupal. We start the meetups with a round of very focused lightning talks that discuss real world solutions to existing problems, new work people have done, and Drupal news. Some of these talks are about code, and some are not. We do ask that all presenters talk on a level that everyone - including non-developers - can follow. After the talks, we chat over beer, and maybe play a few games of foosball.
We're open to ways to improve the meetups and this group, so speak up if you have ideas!
Tomorrow's DC Drupal meetup (Feb 8) - CANCELLED
The snowpocalype struck (again), and it's aftermath is, well, massive. The federal government is closed tomorrow, buses aren't running regularly, not all metro stations are open, and Stetson's isn't opening up the upstairs bar tomorrow. So, we're canceling the February DC Drupal meetup. The tentative date for our next meetup will be Monday, March 8. More details on that to come.
If you've seen this twice now, my apologies for the double posting - we just want to make sure everyone gets word on the cancellation.

UPDATE: We've cancelled this meetup. With the city still snowed in after #snowpocalypse2 - and with the bar upstairs at Stetsons not opening - we decided to call off the meetup. The tentative date for the next meetup is Monday, March 8, with more details to come. Enjoy the snow!
The next DC Drupal meetup will be on Monday, February 8, at 7:00 pm at Stetson's Famous Bar and Grill. We'll follow our usual format with everyone gathering at the upstairs bar around 7:00 pm for drinks and kicking off the formal part of the meetup at 7:30 with introductions. We'll follow that with five minute lightning talks where we open up the floor to anyone who'd like to talk - for five minutes or less - on something Drupal related, like a module you're working on, a website that recently launched on Drupal, or a Drupal-related question. If you want to present, just post about it in the comments here and come ready to talk. You'll have access to a flatscreen TV, but not to the internet.
These meetups are a great chance to get to know the local Drupal community, talk with other developers, and learn about what's being done and what's possible with Drupal. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Hope to see you there!

Baltimore Drupal User Group
I'm interested in forming a Baltimore Drupal User Group to meet regularly in Baltimore. We have the perfect space for meetups that can hold 80 people comfortably and has a commercial kitchen, bar, plenty of bathrooms and even a club room for over flow or socializing.
I'd like to gauge interest and get some feedback from the group? So...
- Would you be interested?
- Would you be willing to help plan?
- How often should a group meet? Monthly? Bi-monthly? Quarterly?
- Any suggestions for presentations and presenters?
- Any suggestions for day of the week and times?
Thanks

Recently my company has been creating mobile CMS applications for a variety of clients. Many of these are event related and so we going to start promoting Mobile CMS platform initially for iphone and then expanding to Android and Black berry in time.
Right now the infrastructure in built in zend, but I would love to switch this capability to fit with Drupal infrastructure. With webservices integration, with particular taxonomies and content types being able to propagate the data from drupal into a mobile application.

NoVA Drupal Meetup Tonight: "The Greatest Under-the-Radar Modules"
This week's topic is "The Greatest Under-the-Radar Modules". The format will be casual. No need for anyone to prepare formal PowerPoint presentations. Just come ready to share and discuss your favorite, coolest modules that aren't standard issue for most drupal sites(Although, perhaps they should be?). Who knows, by the night's end, you may have picked up some new favorites yourself!
As always, we'll have time to talk about anything you are working on, so please bring questions or projects to share.

-
Dave Cole and Macon Phillips from the White House New Media Team will discuss the new WhiteHouse.gov platform, which was recently rolled out on Drupal.

Jeff Walpole of Phase2 Technology will discuss OpenPublish and how this distribution is being used by publishers to launch high traffic websites
Also, we have a FREE ticket to raffle off to next month's Do It With Drupal conference - a three day, multi-level Drupal training event put on by Lullabot, who are great Drupal trainers. To enter the raffle, RSVP with "diwd" in the comments on this thread and come to the meetup. We'll print out the names of everyone who leaves a comment, put them all in a hat, and pull a winner at the meetup.
Hope to see you there!

Next DC Drupal Meetup Monday, October 19th
The next Drupal meetup will be on Monday, October 19th at 7:00 pm at Stetson's. These meetups are a great opportunity to meet other local Drupal developers and Drupal site administrators, learn about some of the cool things being done in Drupal, and just learn more about the CMS. People of all levels of Drupaldom are welcome.
As usual, we'll kick off the meetup with a round of introductions at 7:30 pm, followed by five minute lightning talks. These can be about anything Drupal related - a site or module you're working on, a question you have, or anything else that you think would be of interest to the group. If you'd like to give a talk, post about it in the comments and come ready to talk. There will be access to a flatscreen to plug into, but the internet is shaky so don't count on being able to get online. After the lightning talks, there will be lots of time for conversations and more beer.
Hope to see you there!
