PHUG Workshop: Drupal Theming in an Hour
Sorry for the late notice! But I'll be running a free workshop on Drupal Theming for PHUG tonight up at Seneca @ York:
In this workshop, we will show the process of taking an HTML & CSS design and converting it into a fully working Drupal theme. Along the way, we’ll look at the 3 main aspects of Drupal theming, some best practices and a few tricks. Drupal 6 makes the whole process easier than ever, so get started making your Drupal site look not like a Drupal site!
When:
Tuesday Oct 28 2008 @ 630pm
Where:
Seneca @ York Campus in room 2112 [map]
Volunteers for Ontario Linux Fest (Saturday October 25, 2008)
There is an Ontario Linux Fest on Saturday October 25, 2008 (that is two weeks from today).
Like last year, it has a Dot Org pavillion where open source projects can distribute literature and ask questions. Unlike last year, where Joomla had a presence there, and Drupal did not, we like to be present.
The day runs from 9:00 am to 6:30 am, so we need 2 or 3 volunteers who can answer basic questions on Drupal, and hand out some flyers.

Drupal Hosting
Hello All,
I have a government client that needs a strong recommendation for local (Canada, but Toronto is preferred) fully managed VPS hosting. It's preferred that the host be familiar and optimized with Drupal.
I remember back about a year ago this was a topic of discussion at one of the meetings at the Linux cafe, but for the life of me I have forgotten which hosts were mentioned as being good candidates for VPS Drupal hosting.
Can I get some recommendations?
Cheers,
Alex

We have a special guest presenter for our August meeting. Emma Jane Hogbin will join us and share an encore presentation of her DrupalCamp Talk "Moving In: or how to port your content from * to Drupal."
This topic was a huge hit at DrupalCamp and we are thrilled to be able to have Emma present it with lots of extra time for Q&A.
Read moreYou guys thinking about Drupalcon Toronto??
A while back someone in Toronto had created a group called "Drupalcon Toronto". Although the group was denied in moderation I wanted to poke my head in the Toronto group to see if there was interest in doing a Drupalcon in Toronto and more-so if there was a group willing to put in the time and effort to pull off a Drupalcon in Toronto. A Drupalcon is a lot of work but we have some great people around the world as well as some established processes to pull it off. Maybe there are some great Drupaladians(?) that want to put together an awesome Drupalcon in Canada!

Toronto March Meetup: i18n and Drupal 6
We'll be spending the March meetup looking at the internationalization / multilingual features in Drupal 6.0 . Lots of work went into revamping the underlying system for the new version. We'll also have a brief look at the translation client & server that Gabor has been working on. Should be an interesting topic for anyone building bilingual sites here in Canada!
Ideas, thoughts and experience welcome!
