Drupal Training in Toronto/Mississauga area?

Hi guys,

First time posting here, so let me know if this is the wrong place for this discussion. We are looking to get trained in Drupal as soon as possible as we are going to adopt Drupal at the place I work. Can anyone recommend a good training provider for system administrator and developer? From your experience, what's the best way to ramp up on Drupal?

Thank you very much in advance.

Jenny

Desperately seeking sandboxes / demos

My organization is in the process of selecting a CMS. I'd like to demo a Drupal install for them, but unfortunately A) I'm a noob, so installing and configuring one myself would take some time and B) All the online Drupal demo sites are unresponsive to my join requests or appear to be dead.

Is there any way I can access a functioning Drupal sandbox/demo? Thanks.

Spec'ing Drupal Jobs

Hi Guys,

While I was entertaining the relatives this weekend, I couldn't help thinking about Drupal. It's a sickness really. I need to seek help. Before I do though, I wrote this blog post on the key areas I feel need to be explored before taking on a Drupal project. As we all know, some projects are bad bad bad. Some projects are really good. Going through this long rant list that I've compiled should give the new folks the benefit of what some of us older guys have already suffered. It's on my blog here: http://www.drupalcreations.com/blog/drupal-specifications Please feel free to disagree and comment in sarcastic and critical tones. Ideally we get a thread going and share some of the wealth.

I'm off to seek help now :) ,

Project Management pitfalls

I've found there's one common mistake that I've made as a Drupal developer/Consultant, time and time again: project management. I wrote a short blog about my learning experiences here: Project Management If you're new to the world of professional Drupal consulting, read it to prepare yourself. If you're old, please add some comments to help new recruits understand the value of working a plan.

I give some real world scenarios as examples of mistakes that I've made. It should illustrate why it is critical to follow every step of the project management process. It'll help you avoid a lot of the pain that I suffered through.

For anyone new to the world of Drupal consulting, you should really read through this blog.

Good luck and May the force be with you,

Video design variable considerations

I've recently finished a big video project, hoping to be the next big YouTube. I'm hoping they are too. In the process I encountered a host of different challenges as you do with any new project. I thought I'd share some of the critical success variables back with the community. Hopefully, I'll help you avoid some of the growing pains I suffered through.

Zend Certification for Drupal Professionals

Workshop: Drupal 7 Site Building Extravaganza

Earlier this year I asked my mailing list what they needed help with when it came to theming Drupal. Although every answer was unique, the most common frustration boiled down to, "I just don't get it. I don't understand the big picture. It's chaotic and it makes me feel stupid." ... It's as if Drupal was some kind of dangerous monster that kills kittens for fun. Drupal is powerful, no doubt, but only if you know how make it do what you want.
