Drupal Atlanta February 2009--2 Meetings
Atlanta Drupalers;
In case you didn't know, the Drupal Atlanta User Group conducts two meetings each month--at geographically diverse locations, and with different formats.
The meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month is formatted as a Hands-on workshop. Sometimes there is no preset agenda for this meeting. We set the agenda at the meeting based on whats on the minds of the attendees. That meeting is held at Manuels Tavern (and restaurant), and is conveniently located in south Atlanta metro.

All,
I know many of you have already registered on meet-up here http://www.meetup.com/drupalatlanta/calendar/9485079/, but wanted to make sure the g.d.o. specific members were aware of the upcoming presentation. If you have not done so already please RSVP on meetup.com as soon as possible to assist with pre-planning.
2009 ADUG - Steering Committee Notes
All,
I wanted to keep all ADUG members in the loop on our recent planning meeting that was held last week to primarily discuss organizational issues as we embark on 2009. Barb Prebble, Kent Lester, Mal Richards, Richard van Slyke, and myself have agreed to be the primary organizers. We tried to divide and conquer roles and responsibilities as much as we could and are in the process of firming up a long-term venue.
Is anyone from the Atlanta area attending Drupalcon in March?

As some of you may already know DrupalAtlanta.com is in the process of redesigning their website. The organizers of the project hope to use the site redesign as a working laboratory to expose new members on how to build a Drupal site from the ground-floor. Look out for meeting updates about the monthly Drupal workshops being conducted!
However, first and foremost we need your input. We are in the process of defining the requirements and goals of the site and are looking for feedback on such things as:
- What type of features and functionality should be included?
Drupal Atlanta: Hands on Projects
This meeting will be dedicated to adhoc hands on projects. Specific emphasis will be given to forming a team to migrate and upgrade the Drupal Atlanta Web site. Lets use our Web site as a learning tool. We'll need a couple of advanced users to direct a team of relative beginners on how to do the work.
Other projects/workshops can occur in parallel.
As always:
The location and time are the same: 7-9pm, 5 Seasons restaurant in Alpharetta, GA., on Old Milton Parkway, about one mile east of GA 400 off of exit 10.

We have finally gone live with our redesign of the Georgia Podcast Network! For a rundown of what's new from an end user standpoint, check out our announcement blog post.
GAPN is based on Drupal 5.7, and makes heavy use of the following modules: CCK, Views, Workflow-ng, FeedAPI, ImageCache, Usernode, Bio, Fivestar, and Voting API. That's not a full list, but the site leans on those the most.
Additionally, we built a custom theme and wrote several custom modules to get things working just the way we wanted them to. In writing these modules, we built custom Drupal integration for getID3, SWFUpload, and the JW Media Player.
Hope you like the site! I'll be happy to answer any "how did you do that?" questions if you have them.

It will show parallels between Asterisk and Drupal and describe opportunities for synergy between the two. Finally we will review and demonstrate the code for two examples of a VoIP application embedded in a Drupal site.
