I wanted to announce here that a Public demo of the new version of ELMS (Alpha 3) can now be accessed at the following address: http://demo.elms.psu.edu/
Alpha 3 is still slated to be released by the end of the March but I wanted to get a demo out ahead of that for some additional feedback. Also, I felt the need to provide some optimism as a reaction to this post in the higher education group.
I haven't been as active in posting or attending events lately because this distribution has all-but become my life so I wanted to share the good news :p. As always, community feedback is encouraged and I hope to be more active once again.

Thanks for sharing
ELMS3 looks rad, you guys have come a long way with it.
If you do end up hosting a Drupal-EduCamp, keep me in the loop. I'd love to help out with planning or presenting.
Thanks Mark!
We've got people currently reengineering the ELMS website so once that happens hopefully we'll have a point to organize a camp around. http://drupal.psu.edu/ would also seem to suggest that we have enough sites / users to justify a camp so I guess we'll have to wait and see :)
We'd definitely accept your help in this endever if we can pull it all together :p
Busy year ahead!

Drupal Camp
Maybe we could to a camp jointly with PSU and Pittsburgh. We have been discussing doing a camp in Pittsburgh. This could be a good focus for it.

ELMS3
And I'd love to come and learn! Thanks, really great.
+1 to the camp idea!
+1 to the camp idea! drupalcampwi has been a great way for us to strengthen our local edu drupal community here, as well as bring in gurus like brian. we're big fans of drupalcampin'
+1 to the camp idea!
I would definitely be interested in a Penn State Drupal camp. I am a senior at PSH. I am currently in the process of building a website in Drupal 7 for my senior project. Boy do I wish so many modules were available for Drupal 7 or weren't in alpha/beta/dev stages right now, it is a little late for me to change to D6. Overall, though, I am getting by quite well and I believe the project is going to turn out quite well. I will keep you posted and post a link once we get the site hosted.
Ben
I love the camp idea too
The best part is though that I didn't mention one yet everyone is jumping on and saying they'd love to see one, lol. I think it would definitely cement the Drupal community local to PSU as well as in the region.
@dmcw yes doug I'd love to have you out here for some craft PA beer :p
@tshudyb I will be down in Harrisburg to meet with staff around the university network (state wide) about ELMS / ELIMedia adoption in the commonwealth campus network. If you are around then or would like to meet up to talk we could try to make that happen. One of my goals as a PSU grad is to pass Drupal knowledge / training on to the next generation of Drupalistas to come out of PSU. Since I know the course-work / instructors I know a lot of them reference the usage of OS CMSs like Drupal or Wordpress yet there is 0 formal training in Drupal (as far as I know at least). Want to get me into your classroom, start bugging people ;) cause ultimately that's where I wish I was...
@DavidWheelerPhD Maybe we can talk more about the Pgh Camp, i'd definitely be interested in helping out / learning more about the details of what you want to do with that. I need to figure out who to talk to about getting an official PSU one which if that's not possible, maybe I can just get a conference room or something and we can have a super informal one going and invite whoever to a big room for the first one.

And it seems the support is there! We'll probably start talk on a PGH mini-camp this meeting or next, maybe like a theming or site-building one-day. Love to have a full-on camp here within the next year. Right now we're focussed on growing the group. Drop in on #drupal-pgh if you want to talk a bit more on this.
yikes
I've been outed ;)

Because of the discussion
Because of the discussion happening here I've created a posting about gauging interest of hosting a Drupal Camp PSU type of event.
http://drupal.psu.edu/blog/127
The idea would be we start with a monthly meeting to see what interest is like locally amongst PSU only people. Then grow from there into a day-long thing in a decent sized conference room open to anyone. Then see where things go from there and maybe try to get a larger scale drupalcamp with more official organization sometime down the road.
irc #drupal-psu now also exists! thanks mark!
