Hi folks. It's been a while since I've made it out to an Austin meet-up. When are they? And is there somewhere (like g.d.o/austin) that they can be regularly and reliably advertised?
Thanks

Here's a monthly calendar of all the Austin Drupal meets:

Austin has more Drupal meetups than g.d.o implies
Thanks Lynn-- I had forgotten about www.geekaustin.org, and it's filled out quite a bit since I'd last been! I think it would be prudent of the admin of this group to toss up a g.d.o wiki page or simply a link to geekaustin in the g.d.o description for newcomers and casual visitors. Weekly and monthly meetups for theming, dojo, and intro, and no word of it from here directly.
What is the Drupal Theming Study like? Does it happen as regularly as geekaustin suggests? And are we going to see a DrupalcampAustin in the last quarter of 2010??
I hope to make it out to Austin again soon.

No DCA-2010, I'm afraid
Bronius, unfortunately for us, the driving force behind DrupalCamp Austin 2009 moved to the Bay Area and no one has stepped forward to take that challenge on.
We now have two Drupal meetups happening regularly in Austin. One continues the meetups we've had in the past, with an advanced topic of one type or another, announcements, and lightning talks — mainly intended for people who already know how Drupal works. This group meets from 6:30 to 9 the third Wednesday of each month at Mangia Pizza on Mesa Drive.
The second is a Drupal Newbies meetup, for people who are just starting out and people who want to fill in a gap or two in their understanding of Drupal. This group meets in the evening on the second Thursday of each month at the Seminary of the Southwest.
And you're right — we need to revamp this page to include, among other things, prominent information about the Austin-area meetups and other Drupal-related events. Organizers?
DrupalCamp Austin is on
That's not the case. Lauren Roth and Four Kitchens co-organized DrupalCamp Austin last year, and while Lauren did move (and is missed), Four Kitchens will continue to co-organize DrupalCamps with the help of the Austin Drupal community.
DrupalCamp Austin is tentatively set for November 20-21. Four Kitchens is working out contract details with the venue. We hope to make an announcement this week.
Guest speakers will be flying in from San Francisco, Denver, New York, Finland, and (hopefully) Sweden. More to come soon. :)

Good to know!
That's great to hear, Todd! I hadn't heard a word about it at the meetups, so I assumed we were out of luck. Hey, everybody, save the date!
Todd, if there's a way we can help, be sure that someone comes to the October meetups with information on what you need and who volunteers should contact. With enough advance warning, I'm sure we could produce a couple dozen volunteers.
Thanks
Thanks for the help, Cliff. We'll make an official announcement and start promoting DrupalCamp Austin at meetups once we've signed the contract for the venue. (Nothing's ever for sure until the venue is locked down.)
In the meantime, everyone should pencil in DrupalCamp Austin for November 20-21.

Just to keep this thread in the loop -- too many textile metaphors? -- here's the DrupalCamp Austin 2010 announcement post.
Hope to see you there!
