OpenDrupal aims to open new doors into Drupal. It can be difficult to start a career as a Drupal developer, and many young people aren’t aware it’s an option. With cooperation from developers, educators and the community, we can create high quality, free and Open Source training materials to make it easier to run effective Drupal training programmes.
Let’s make it easier to become part of the Drupal community, encourage and enable companies to invest in Apprenticeships, Internships and Training, and work together, sharing knowledge and setting standards.

We're on the lookout for mentors who could commit to a day between 17th - 28th February in London.
All you'll need to do beforehand is read through some of the Curriculum, and on the day you'll be amongst a group of around eight 16-18 year olds who will be starting out as Drupal developers, you'll be on hand to guide anyone who asks for assistance and answer any questions anyone has. There will be a facilitator provided by Happy Computers to lead each day.

I realise this is very last minute, but maybe we could try to do these weekly if anyone is up for that.
I'll post a Hangout URL a few mins before the meeting tomorrow.
Cheers,
Hedley

Hi all,
Following on from the findings of our hack day we decided to focus on producing a curriculum with roughly two weeks worth of material, which gives people a solid intro into web development & Drupal. Work has been started here: https://docs.google.com/a/agilecollective.com/document/d/17gmRKuYDO75r34... - although there's still much to do!
I've also published a 'Drupal Digital Mission' here: http://hedleysmith.com/posts/digital-mission-drupal-blog.html which we can point to as the very first part of the curriculum.

We're going to have a quick Hangout tomorrow to talk about the next steps for OpenDrupal! I'll post the Hangout URL in here just before.
The main topic I'd like to focus on is the content of the two week long intro to Drupal course we'll be building. I've recently written a 'Build a blog with Drupal' tutorial, which could form the first part of the course, here: https://docs.google.com/a/agilecollective.com/document/d/1_zF1i_Zt0Gy7HM...

Thanks to everyone who made it to the OpenDrupal Hack Day on Saturday! It was a very thought provoking day of discussions, planning and getting things written down.
We had some great discussions around the motivations of companies to take on an intern or apprentice, and what would be most useful to them, and most tangible for us to achieve.
We came to the conclusions that:
- Companies want new, high quality staff members, and if they can pay them at a (relatively) low rate - that's a bonus
