Lullabot Is In Town - Portland Meetup on Tuesday
The Lullabot team will be in town next week teaching workshops at the Hotel Monaco. We've got a nice space reserved and a bunch of out-of-town workshop attendees who would love to meet the great Portland Drupal community. So how about a Portland Drupal Meetup on Tuesday (May 5th)!? We'll have a cash bar, audio/video stuff, and snacks.
We'll keep the format pretty open with lightening talks and question/answer sessions. We'll have a signup sheet, and we'd love to hear about the cool stuff that you're working on, Drupal discoveries, or just questions that you need answered.

Howdy:
I have an very intermittent and strange problem. From my static IP at my office, intermittently without warning, I cannot access drupal.org or any related sites, while anybody else can as long as it's not my IP. From my same office, if I log onto a free WIFI, I can access the site on the same computer.
I call Comcast and they are about as helpful as my Cat. (FWIW, my cat is old skool, she's a fortran developer and too lazy to learn the web ways).

Greetings, Drupalites
I'm a PDX UI designer with 10 years of old school HTML experience trying to bring the best of Open Source form and function to my clients' websites. In the last year or two I've gained a good working knowledge of Drupal, but lack the Deep Magic. I'm hoping to partner up with a skilled backend developer who looks for signs of intelligent life beyond Minelli and Garland.

After the May meeting yesterday, several of us kicked around an idea for July's meeting. Between now and the June meeting, we brainstorm a challenge in the form of a client requirement or a user spec.
At the June meeting, we'll announce the challenge, and then interested parties will use Drupal to solve the problem. Core, contrib, and custom solutions are all welcome. In July, everyone who tried to solve it will sign up to present, and we'll divide the meeting time among them, but presentations won't be longer than 10 minutes each.
Read moreRedirecting subdirectory into root, and all pages therein
Hey there everyone,
So for a while there I was placing all of my drupal content in a subdirectory, and redirecting all my visitors to the subdirectory. I've come to discover through working with some people who do a lot of SEO work that it's not a good idea to go doing that. So, I moved everything to the root directory from the subdirectory, did abunch of other stuff for SEO, and now I want to redirect everything from the old sub directory back to the root directory.

The following description is from the organizers:
Open Source Bridge is a completely volunteer-run conference for open source citizens held June 17-19 in Portland, Oregon. Focused on developers working with open source technologies, the event features five tracks connecting people across projects, languages, and backgrounds to explore how those developers approach their work, and why they participate in open source. The conference structure is designed to provide developers with an opportunity to learn from people they might not connect with at other events.Read more
Hover/Mouseover Menus
In Drupal 6, which module do you guys think is best for hover/mouseover menus, i.e. where you expand a menu by simply hovering your mouse over the primary menu option. Nice Menus (http://drupal.org/project/nice_menus) is not the easiest to use and you need to know your CSS, but does the job. An example of a site using Nice Menus is none other than recovery.gov. However, is there anything better out there? I find many menu modules but most seem to force the user to click on a menu or involve images rather than text.

Good article by jhedstrom in today's NTEN (Nonprofit Technology Network) newsletter: Building Community with Open Source with PDX Drupal UG as an example. Nice.

Street Roots launches rosecityresource.org PDX Drupal UG project today
I wanted to let the group know that today Street Roots did their hard launch of our community project, the Rose City Resource site. Since we went live in March, Israel (SR director) and I have been tweaking, configuring, and adding (with the continued support of the dev team, thank you).
You can pick up a copy of today's Street Roots to find an article on page 3. Israel is holding a stack of papers for us so if you're not able to pick one up, let me know and I'll send one to you if you want. :)
