Hola Drupaleros, my name is José, and I’m the Local Track Chair for the Frontend Track at DrupalCon Sao Paulo 2012. Did you know that in December will take place the first Drupal Con in LatinAmerica, right? Of course you knew!!

I know you have brilliant ideas and wonderful experiences you would like to share with the Drupal community, and this is your chance! Today I'm inviting you to submit your session proposals to the Frontend track.

The Objectives

The main objective of this post is to help the Drupal Association to make an informed decision regarding the Venue for DrupalCon Latino 2012. The other objectives are to reach a higher level of transparency and a better communication between the Drupal Association, the DrupalCon local organizers, and the Drupal community.

The Motivation

Meeting celebrated on the 2nd day of Drupal Summit Latino Lima 2011.

Por unos días de la semana pasada, un grupo de Drupaleros sudamericanos se reunió en Washington DC para sumergirse en el mundo Drupal, conocer gente y en general tener un tiempo maravilloso en la Capital de los EU. Algunos de ellos como yo, estuvieron hasta el último minuto en busca de entradas que se habían agotado mucho antes de empezar la conferencia.

I just wanted to say that it was wonderful to meet so many of you at the DrupalCon South America BOF last Saturday. And special thanks to develcuy and the Peru crew for the awesome t-shirt, which I am wearing proudly. :)

I look forward to the next time we can hang out together, and I'm happy to do whatever I can to help make DCSA a reality, so just give me a shout.

With the presence of DrupalCon DC 2009 attendees coming from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela, and with the participation of Greg Knaddison (Drupal Association General Assembly member who has travelled extensively in South America) and other Drupalistas with ties to South America, an historic meeting of the South American DrupalCon Organizing Committee, chaired by Drupal Association Board Member Cary Gordon, was held on Saturday March 7, at the DrupalCon DC 2009 venue, the Washington Convention Center. The clear intention of holding a DrupalCon in South America in June, 2010 was formally announced to the Drupal Association and to the world at large. In addition, a series of DrupalCamps were announced for this year: Sao Paulo, Brazil (April, 2009); Buenos Aires, Argentina (June, 2009); Lima, Peru (September, 2009).
