Hi,
This is Prateek and the post is to announce the successful creation of a basic Elasticsearch module for Drupal 8 as part of my GSoC '14 project. I've also uploaded a video tutorial on setting up this module. It's still under development and will be enriched and updated with time along with the addition of more features.

Currently, one may install the 8.x-1.x branch and use it for indexing and searching through Search API backend. Please report any issues you may come across.

Our awesome community recently became a bit more awesome. Drupal was accepted into Google's Summer of Code 2014! Student applications started March 10th and are open until March 21st. It's not too late to become a student, mentor, or submit a project idea. Not available to join the GSoC fun...maybe you can send an email to your alumni university mailing list?

Over the past few months we organized an initiative with Google Code-In students to learn, edit, and create ladders. During this time I truly learned the value of the ladder program and how quickly it can help new users learn Drupal with proper documentation. In fact, we plan for GCI students to work on the DrupalLadder every year which will greatly help the project grow in terms of content. Code-In is for high school students taking on basic tasks.

Are any of the IdeaScale ideas still relevant @ http://drupal-association.ideascale.com/ ? Some of these ideas will work out perfectly for a Google Summer of Code project and the ideas are already nicely documented.

Anyone interested in being a mentor or know a friend that might? Maybe you have another project in mind? Please add ideas into the 2014 GSoC Drupal Idea Wiki (https://groups.drupal.org/node/404778). We hope to finish reviewing GSoC ideas by this Wednesday night Feb 12th at midnight UTC-6.

Major announcement! The 10th annual Google Summer of Code application period kicked off Monday, February 3rd (GSoC 2014 announcement from Google[1]).

GSoC 2014 application requests our official social media pages. To be honest, it took me several minutes to track them down. Maybe I missed it, but I could not easily find links to the official Drupal twitter, facebook, g+. On another note, who manages these social media accounts and how do we setup a post about GSoC2014?
