Templating new Organic Groups
This is from an issue over in the Skeleton Outlines module:
<
blockquote>I was wondering if I would be able to create skeletons for Organic Groups with this module. I try to create a layout where people would be able to create an OG structure automatically (Main group with sub-groups and different permissions and features for sub-groups).

Overview
Implement an events management system inspired by the best user interfaces and features sets out there including facebook events, meetup.com, and existing contributed modules so that we get the user experience right while working elegantly with organic groups.
Description
The context of this proposal is an awesome ;) organization called Democrats Abroad which is a body of the democratic party that represents americans living abroad.
http://www.democratsabroad.org
This context is interesting (fascinating) because it is truly a global community with different organizational levels global, country, country chapter and cross-cutting topical groups on issues and policy. It is thus a great testbed for this type of a module.
The events management system needs to be flexible enough to work with this type of organizational constraints and at the same time be fluid enough in its user interface as to require zero training and not be the cause of increased support.
A good candidate for this project should have a good eye for implementations with great usability and be motivated to implement our specs in such a way that uses and helps improve existing modules as much as possible.
We are also interested in feedback from the community so that any new modules that need to be developed are flexible enough to work in other contexts.
I have been working on some initial UI mockups that I have posted on flickr here so please check them out:

Mentors:
There are a small number of IT professionals that help out on the DA web site with different skills and roles that will be providing input and guidance to a student that is interested in working with us on this topic. Technical discussions with the developers that are maintaining modules related to this area are seen as essential so that we don't reinvent the wheel and we would be happy to welcome technical advice and participation from the community.

One of the things we've been looking at out here in Portland is effective crewing management and tracking through the Open Media Project. At PCM we follow a policy of "if you don't use it you loose it" where producers need to keep active (at least once a year) in order to keep their certifications up-to-date. We also follow a policy of needing to work on productions before you can start your own.
Read moreOrganic groups and ACL compatibility
Hi to all,
Our organisation recently decided to change our CMS from Joomla to Drupal. We would like to use groups on our site and organic groups seemed the obvious choice. I suggested this to our site designer but he immediately flag a concern with incompatibility of the Organic groups module with the ACL module as he found information in the OG handbook stating that "you can't use this module with other node access modules". He sent a query 2 weeks ago at http://drupal.org/node/384094 but has so far received no replies.
I also found a thread at http://drupal.org/project/og_user_roles which states that the OG user roles modules supports ACL. Does "support "mean that it is compatible? And does this mean that the OG module is as well?
Is the Organic groups module compatible with the ACL module? How can we use both OG and ACL modules together?

Hi all!
I'm an Instructional Technologist with Empire State College and we're hastily moving ahead with a "pilot" of a Drupal-driven faculty/staff portal that encourages professional organic groups and college-wide knowledge sharing. We've been talking to Advomatic to address our hosting needs and we're quite impressed with their in-house production retainers. We're trying to quickly throw together a proposal for them to give them an idea of what we want.
What do we want? lol
Read moreGetting Group Detail block to appear in Panel on non-group node
Hopefully someone else has encountered this. I've used panels to take over a page generated by the Calendar Module. The Calendar view inserts the node ID as an argument into the url, (1646 below).
http://mysite.com/group/1646/calendar/2008/9/15
However, the organic Groups panes don't recognize this argument, because
1) You can't insert them unless you restrict the Panel Page to a "Group enable" content type
2) The Calendar URL that I'm taking over is not a node, so it can't find the ID.
organic groups change in Drupal 6?
Help! I know this isn't the right place to post this, but I'm not getting help from the OG list and I'm getting desperate - school started yesterday. I upgraded my site, well actually recreated my site on Drupal 6. Last year, I had several blocks on each group home page that would display information pertinent to that group, for instance FAQ's or upcoming class birthdays. I did this easily with the views filter, using "OG Posts in Current Group" and "OG Posts in User-Subbed Group", making sure that it was on the right page (view) and the user was allowed to see it.

Hip!
I have the i18n kicking after some n00b-difficulties, but there is one problem that I would like to solve somehow.
I have translated group titles, and it looks like working, but when I create content, the "audience" section gives all the groups and their translations as separate groups to choose from. Like this:
"Audience:
[ ] Group Alpha
[ ] Group Beta
[ ] Group Gamma
[ ] Ryhmä Alpha
[ ] Ryhmä Beta
[ ] Ryhmä Gamma"
Is this normal and if so, is there a workaround?
Hope someone could help...
