[GSoC Proposal] Personal Identity Verification for Drupal

Develop a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) module that could be implemented into the Drupal CMS platform to allow for two-factor authentication using a Smart Card (SC) or US Government Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) card for verification and access to secure website environments.

There was once sandbox-related activity found here http://drupal.org/sandbox/larquin/1292622 , but it seems to have been abandoned.

Me recomendaron Pressflow y Varnish.

Apache restart when we enable APC

Hi all.

I use a CentOS server to deploy a Drupal site. I use ~50 drupal projects (> 100 modules) for this site. When I enable APC, the Web server often auto-restart.

My server's information:
+ CentOS
+ Apache 2.2.3
+ PHP 5.3.8
+ APC 3.1.9

  • If I disable APC, the error doesn't occur. The site work correctly.
  • In my local PC, I use ubuntu with Apache 2.2.14, PHP 5.3.2, APC 3.1.9 => The site work correctly without this error.

=> Could you help me?

Need help - Dynamic pages not rendering fine

Hi,

I recently installed Drupal 7 on Windows with Apache Web server (2.2) and PostGres DB. When I try to access the drupal site, I'm always seeing the directory listing and if I click on a specific php page, I'm able to see the HTML contents; but none of the dynamic features (search, filter, etc.) are working. I thought PHP wasn't installed fine; but if I throw in a simple PHP page with PHP functions, I'm able to get dynamic contents on the page. Is there any other configuration I need to do before I get started with my first site?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards,
Yogaesh

Varnish w/nginx for Static Content

(Referred from http://drupal.org/node/1255892)

I have been working on two development servers to try out a concept:

Server 1.
varnish -> apache > drupal, and

Server 2
nginx -> apache > drupal, with
nginx -> (jpg, txt).

I have read all good things about running nginx with no modules to server Static Content (images, text files, etc) and it seems to work very well on server 2.

Both development servers are working very well. What I would now like to try is to combine the benefits of both but I do not know which is the preferred setup?

A new drush command to generate apache VirtualHost configurations

Hello all,

Just wanted to let you know that I've pushed a new drush command to this github repository.

What it does is generating a VirtualHost section for the Apache configuration, which allows you to easily add new virtual hosts to your system.

It saves me some time, hope you'll find it useful too.

Thanks for your attention, looking forward for comments and suggestions.

linux server / dev environments, opensuse and others

I started writing an OpenSUSE tutorial for drupal: http://drupal.org/node/1180202

What I want to do is get feedback and develop a template/checklist to follow to make sure no important information is left out of a server config.

So far I have these categories some of which are not written on the above page yet:

<

ul>

  • Downloading and Installing the software
  • Config file locations
  • Configuring the software
  • Example config files
  • Application locations
  • Checking version numbers
  • Log file locations

Varnish loading default site instead of the correct site

I've got an issue with varnish on my mercury server. I have a site that is located outside of /var/www so I setup a new apache vhost for the site that points to it's proper location and configured it to run on port 8080. When I try to visit the site through varnish on port 80 the default site comes up instead of the site i am expecting. When I visit the site on port 8080 it works fine. Is there something I need to do to varnish to make it aware that the site is not in /var/www? Any help would be appreciated.

Mercury (Varnish) with SSL only traffic?

Our use case for our Mercury install has suddenly changed in our architecture and it has been determined that we will use SSL only traffic.

I've been trying to read up on how to get Varnish to interact with HTTPS. It appears, to my dismay, that Varnish does not play well with SSL.

    I've found this thread:
Enforcing SSL Behind AWS Load balancer
    http://groups.drupal.org/node/115284

    and this blog post
Setting up Pressflow and Varnish to work with HTTP and HTTPS
