Sugesstion needed: pdf to swf page flipping in drupal
On a newspapers site, I need to do something like this:
http://www.flashpageflip.com/demos/free
The source file I will have is a pdf of the actual printed newspaper, so ideally I would like to create a node and just upload the pdf and drupal auto-magically creates a page flip flash as shown above in the example.
I have searched around drupal.org for hours and been googling, but all the page flip software I have found thus far is paid software.
The closest module I have come across is http://drupal.org/project/ipaper

Hi All,
I am a newbie in Drupal. Which drupal version 5 or 6 will be idle to go for a newspaper site. Are there enough stable modules in 6 that will leverage a newspaper site and also themes that I can start on. From the basic reading I did on drupal site, I find ZEN is the best theme to start on developing new themes but I dont find a stable version of ZEN in 6.
Any ideas, input highly appreciated.
Thanks a lot

hyper local content for publications
Hey all, I have an interesting issue. I'm building a site for a newspaper that deals with a large region of the state, but wants to make sure that the content is very specific to each town within that region. So that when a visitor comes to the site, they see town-specific content.

I am not a developer but a very hands-on subject matter expert.
Having been badly burnt by poor performance in the past, I am trying to pre-empt performance issues. Please suggest what is the ideal way to build the site: through taxonomy, content types (CCK) or what?
Expected load:
50-500 users logged in. Approximately 10 times as many anonymous. This may increase further.
Taxonomy:
1500 terms with ten or so cross references:
For example:
Vocabulary 1: all animals
Vocabulary 2: all countries

Hello everybody, This is my first post here. English is not my mother tongue, so I apologise in advanced if I'm not clear...
I'm working on a cultural magazine which has many sections and categories. After 3 days of hard work I have finally moved from my old joomla portal all articles to my shiny brand new Drupal system which I'm very happy with.
The most difficult thing so far is organising all the contents: I've tried with the category module and simpleviews but still can't find the way to set a bulk operation to add vocabulary o categories on the fly to the uncategorised content.

connecting Drupal with InCopy / XML?
Hey guys,
I'm the editor of a Harvard weekly called The Voice. Our online edition is based on Drupal, check it out at www.theHvoice.com
Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to connect InCopy with Drupal - in other words, to export XML to Drupal,
and use Drupal as a true newsroom CMS?
Best,

having trouble with navigation
Hi,
I'm new to Drupal and could really use your help. So far, I'm really impressed with its powerful possibilities, but am stuck on the basic issue of how best to organise the navigation for my newspaper site.
I'm using Drupal 5.
I want to organise my content as follows:
- 1 level of sections for news (eg. politics, international, etc.) - each news item will be associated with just one section. This list of sections will form a horizontal nav menu
plus
- for each news item, a secondary subject matter - assigned as a freetag.
Letters to the editor: how would you do this?
I'm using drupal 6 with CCK and Views2 installed (and looking forward to Panels when its in shape for a production site).
I got an idea for managing "letters" on the site, partly inspired by some documentation on using Node Comment and Five Star to create a "review" content type (http://drupal.org/node/234681). (I don't want to go this route, however, because I don't want to disable core comments, as node comment seems to require, and I also want to use Node Queue to create a list of featured letters, and I don't think Node Queue supports comments with core comment module.)
