Advice on Sections for a News Site
Hi everybody,
I started using Drupal a few months ago and am now redesigning the newspapers website that I work for. Before, we had a local web development company creating it for us, but they've become pretty unresponsive to your requests over the past year, so we've decided to create it in-house using Drupal.
Maybe this is a newbie question, but I'm sure everybody has ran into. It regards sections for our news site.
I have set up a Taxonomy vocabulary called "Sections" and inside of it there is a hierarchy for our consistent articles that run each week. Example:

I'm looking for the best way to set up a email newsletter service within our Drupal site.
We currently send weekly emails to a subscriber list that exists outside our CMS (we use CommuniGate Pro: LIST Module), but it is limited to simply managing the mail list and we want to move to a system that will give us options like tracking, reports, and perhaps even integration with taxonomy, etc.

Hello,
Im Scott, a new user to the drupal community. As one of the few students in my high school that has any clue with HTML and CSS, i have been asked to create a website for my school newspaper to post articles, photos, videos, and have discussions. The advisor asked me to use drupal, so I am gladly obliging...
However, I am brand spankin new to Drupal, and have no clue what to put into this site. I read the list of recommended modules, but there are so many of those i dont know where to start, nor how to use them/combine them.

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can tell me if there is a drupal module that will recreate the column of images with dropdown captions in the UK online newspaper site http://www.guardian.co.uk/ (third column). Or indeed if there's some other way of doing this in Drupal 6. Thanks a lot, Mike.

Hi, I'm new here to this group and new to drupal. I have been using drupal nearly 2 months for my school at http://smpaphm.net. It should serve two purposes, 1) info about school 2) delivering news to school citizens as well as to the public. I want the website frontpage to look like a newspaper website as the news will be provided by the students.

What educational materials do you use for training writers, editors, photographers, etc. on using a new Drupal newspaper site? I was thinking about Lullabot's "intro to drupal" video, but thought it might cover too much, since sometimes making people aware of other stuff that's available in the site can end up 10x worse than just showing them one little part.
What have you all done in the past?
