Drupal mentoring in Sydney
The upcoming Drupal Code Sprint in Sydney on March 9 is not just for core contributors!
Drupalers of every level are encouraged to join us. We will have mentors to get you set up, whether your goal is to learn how to contribute, to just get started using Drupal, or to solve a Drupal problem that you're having trouble with.
You will need a laptop (unless you just want to watch - which is fine!) but that's all.

This Sunday is the MediaFront code sprint, and I want to go in ready to contribute.
In an effort to get familiar with the MediaFront module I set up a simple site on WebEnabled and uploaded a 30 second AVI video; and after 4 hours I cannot get it to play. Has anybody else here got it going? I tried using the instructions found here:
http://drupal.org/node/1563580 and http://drupal.org/node/1563584 and http://drupal.org/node/1563586.
Drupal 8 Code Sprint in Vancouver
We are in the final month before feature freeze for Drupal 8 and there is so much to get done! So I thought I'd try and gather people together for a 2-day D8 code sprint right here in Vancouver. The dates I have in mind are Friday November 16th and Saturday November 17th, though I've not yet fully confirmed the venue(s).

I will be attending spending a lot of time traveling to Drupal events in September and October, and I am hoping to run CMI initiative code sprints at all of them! There will be other initiative owners at the US events as well, so I would not be surprised to see coding going on around those topics as well. Our main focus here will be around the file-based config system and enhancements to the entity system. For those who are not local to these events, you can join #drupal-cmi on IRC to participate virtually.

The last few weeks have been pretty eventful for the semantic web in Drupal.
Lin Clark and I wrote a couple of articles for the IBM developerWorks explaining what it is possible to achieve with Drupal 7 and the recent developments in core and contrib. They are pretty detailed and will be useful materials for newbies willing to learn how to use the Semantic Web technologies in Drupal 7:
- The Semantic Web, Linked Data and Drupal, Part 1: Expose your data using RDF
- The Semantic Web, Linked Data and Drupal, Part 2: Combine linked datasets with Drupal 7 and SPARQL Views

So I wanted to post this before I lost my post DrupalCon rush.
I know have been less involved with the WMA Drupal community but I wanted to share a thought that I had.
LAst week At drupal con the talks were great, and the BOF's were great. but where I really learned was on the code sprints that happend for core, documentation, and contrib modules.
People picked a task and just started submitting patches. In the room it was like an in house IRC channel people just yelling out for help, or patch review. if it worked it was committed right then and there to its respective project.
Drupal Mumbai:Code Sprint
Thank you all for the wonderful response that we got on out first Drupal Meet here in Mumbai. We all got to interact and set stage for creating a strong Mumbai Drupal Community. We would like to build this into a stage for all Drupalers to meet, collaborate and work on Drupal.
We have planned for a code sprint on Friday, 8th April, 2011 at 2pm. The venue is still undecided. Yashesh has been kind to offer his office premises for the same at Venus Labs, MIDC, Andheri.
