Sign up for the Drupalcon Chicago Sprint Bus!

It's been mentioned and discussed informally, but we finally have confirmed details for the Sprint-to-Drupalcon Bus. We're ready for signups and looking forward to an awesome journey with great people! Sign up or Sponsor to get your seat today (hurry though - space is limited to 54 seats).

Overview
The Twin Cities Drupal Community is organizing a bus to Drupalcon Chicago. The bus will be part Drupal Sprint (work on docs or modules or code or anything else that you think will help make Drupal better), part socializing (we'll have drinks, snacks and refreshments for all) and part fun! We also believe this to be the world's first mobile Drupal sprint - so jump on board today and you'll be able to tell your grandchildren about it.

Anyone interested in doing a LA code sprint to work on these issues to help get Drupal 7 to beta state?

http://drupal.org/community-initiatives/drupal-core

Ninjitsu Web could provide pizza or something, and help train new developers in the basics of patching, reviewing, and navigating the issue queue, and get set-up with the tools for doing so.

We'd need someone else to provide a location suitable for a room full of laptops, and probably another coordinator to help the experienced dev's collaborate & providing general traffic control.

Translate NL sprint Drupal 7 in Rotterdam?

Geo and Location sprints at DrupalCon SF

In the Geo BOF we discussed having a sprint and discussion on the Geo module. This will happen at 6pm on Tuesday, April 20 in the ChX Coder Lounge (Parc 55 Hotel, Divisadero Room 2nd floor).

I would also like to do a code sprint on the Location module this Thursday, April 22 at DrupalCon SF. I have a few specific goals:

  • reorganize the admin interface
  • make the default settings sane
  • spruce up Views integration

Services events at Drupalcon

Drupalcon is in a couple of weeks, and here are the Services-related events that will be happening

Sunday April 18, all day: Code Sprint
I will be holding a code sprint in the Coder Lounge at the Moscone Center all day on Sunday. The focus will be on the Drupal 7 port of Services, hopefully with discussion of the best way to integrate SimpleTest. I would also love to see some the handbook cleanup work continue.

Monday April 19, 5:30 - 6:30: Drupal as a web services platform using the Services module

Drupal Codeathon/Hackfest/Jam Session

Hi all,

Who would be up for an all-day coding event on May 29th (a Saturday)?

We could get together and build a charity site, a web app, a... well, anything really. Ideas are welcome!

This is a great way for us to learn from each other, and I think it would be a lot of fun. Please let me know if you are in, and how you think you could best contribute to the project (design, content, site building, theming, module development).

Perhaps some sponsors might be willing to contribute to a pizza fund even. :)

Getting Drupal 7 documented

I organized some Drupal 7 documentation sprints the last few Tuesdays (http://groups.drupal.org/node/50403)... They were successful, in that we got a couple of new people going in documentation, and a few patches filed (I'll shout out to trevjs especially, for coming to all of the sprints and patiently working on some patches).

However, the sprints were not very well attended, and we still have a lot to do to get the documentation of Drupal 7 ready for its release (http://drupal.org/node/515870), so I'm wondering how we can get it done.

My questions:

February: Drupal 7 Code Sprint

At the New Year's Test Sprint, theunraveller and I were talking about having another sprint - this time just for Drupal 7 stuff. (We were both agreeing that we like sprints because, as I see it, you learn so much more about programming by working with others on solving problems.)

This should happen in a month or so (early February) in order to be able to contribute to Drupal 7 before it's finished.

Drupalcon 2010

Excellent timing for the creation if this group! I am starting to get organized for the code sprint at Drupalcon 2010 right now. I could use advice on running code sprint from others who have done it before -- what's required, what works, what doesn't, etc.
