user group

Hello, Buffalo!

There is also a Rochester, NY user group, but there was honestly so much local (Buffalo) interest in actually meeting that I started this Buffalo group. Get on board - I'd like to start something very soon with whatever critical mass we can gather. And we need meeting venues! :)

I've been organizing the Johannesburg Drupal user group meetups and came across this excellent posting which touches on group leadership, saying "First, do not try to do it alone".

Hi, all - I was wondering if anybody was interested in something like a user group meeting. You know - pizza, presentations, witty banter, whining, high-fiving... I'm located in Buffalo, and I understand that this group is intended to meet in Rochester exclusively, but I'm up for the drive if there's interest. Anybody else?

[And if there's anybody floating around in Buffalo, please drop me a message sometime and maybe we can organize something local to us!]

I am here in Barcelona for a few days for the W3C workshop on the future of social networking and would love to meet some local Drupalers.

In the parisian/drupal tradition the foreigner gets to choose the date ... but the locals get to choose the place with the interesting alcohols.. :)

For the monthly user group meeting we decided to ask all participants this way for their day of week preference.

Edit / Summary points for days of preference:
MON: 3, TUE: 24, WED: 34, THU: 26, FRI: -13
Since there's no possible day that works for everyone we decide to alternate WED, THU on a monthly base.
Voters should be able to join us at least every second event.
To optimize your schedule we will publish coming events a full month in advance.

come checkout the new-ish SoCal Drupal group - it's been revamped. like totally. I've redone the homepage and added a "recent" tab. PLUS, I've added "locales" & "skills" that allow for better categorization of posts.

why? as I see it the main goal of the group is twofold:

• to help users in SoCal without formal groups to connect
• to help existing formal groups to find new users and more easily share information with each other, especially events.

Thanks to those who responded with some interest in a South Dakota Drupal user group. I'm curious how many would be interested in an actual meetup? I'd like to suggest for the first meetup to be in Sioux Falls, but I'm sure we are all open to other locations in South Dakota.

So anybody have any ideas on location or topic for a first meetup? With numbers likely to be small for a first meetup, this doesn't have to be anything formal. Let's throw some ideas around...
