Drupalcon Boston 2008 mashup demo

This is the 5-minute "video from the future" demo presented by Dries in his State of Drupal keynote presentation at Drupalcon Boston 2008. The video demonstrates some of the mashup capabilities of an RDF and SPARQL-enabled Drupal as envisioned by Dries for the upcoming Drupal 7.x release. The version of the demo below includes the original narration by Ben Lavender (the audio from Dries's actual presentation is also available - the RDF material starts after the 52m:30s marker).

New Community-Powered Drupal Module Review Site

Drupal Modules is a community-powered Drupal module review system I've been working on for about a year now. I'm happy to announce the site is finally open to the public!

Here's a brief list of what you can do on the site:

  • Rate and review any module
  • Compare modules to see which has the best features, documentation, etc
  • Check how many downloads a module is getting
  • Easily search modules and reviews for keywords
  • Get automatic recommendations for similar modules
  • And more!

Drupal Haus...

Okay just an awesome Idea that came to me the other night..
Why do we all collectively make others more rich by paying them over-inflated housing costs?
Can't we band together as drupallers! In our own house.

The ad reads.. 10 Awesome Drupal Enthusiasts seeks large house.
-In a central Vancouver location.

I'm thinking cheap rent, save like students.
And do house Projects, build a name and eventually pay rent with the money earned doing development work.
Yes this involves a lot of trust and freespirit, and I'm willing to do most of the work.. Who's with me.

Potential RDF use cases for Drupal

Following up on my previous post introducing the in-progress RDF API for Drupal 6.x, I'm going to be, bit by bit, posting some of the materials that I've earlier put together internally for the project this is being developed for. Development of this project is supported through M.C. Dean and MakaluMedia on behalf of their clients.

ubuntuwatch.com - yet another digg clone

digg.com for ubuntu users? Maybe, but like the earlier version of digg; voting on just the nodes(just the voting). Zen theme in new pajamas! nodes have slideshow of imagefield pics(http://ubuntuwatch.com/node/12), with rip-off of the background buttons for multiple pics, from the lullabots! sorry :P sorry to moshe too ;-) (but you have it in new avatar now ;)

I don't plan to commercialize/earn-from-it in any way, if someone of you thought, it was part of my fun times, playing and implementing with Drupal. It was ready since the oct of '07 but could get it online in dec month. And after all Thanks http://HCoop.net/ !

(i know there are poor way of implementations, hacky job on vote button(half rip-off from rubybaboon), and peekaboo bugs are treating me good for IE.., etc..)

No, it's not based on drigg, project from scratch, but I recommend it to anyone who plans to begin with drupal building a similar website. I'll try to publish the recipe in the near future, if time allows... :)

After all hobby projects don't get your skills rusted, what do you say?

Only local images are allowed.

Robert Fabian of CIPS on targeting Drupal to developers

Robert Fabian is a management and systems consultant in Canada, who has been in computing for many decades. Robert has been involved with CIPS, the Canadian Information Processing Society for a long time too, and they are moving to Drupal as a platform to manage their 30-odd sites, after evaluating other CMS/CMF systems.

I met Robert at the Ontario Linux Fest in October 2007, and then yesterday at the Drupal Users Group meeting in Toronto.
