triDUG

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Only local images are allowed. Our mission is to connect Drupal users in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and surrounding areas. We get together monthly for presentations, site demonstrations, and hack nights. Our goal is to help new Drupal users get up to speed, foster the development of existing Drupal designers and Developers, and contribute to the larger Drupal community. The Research Triangle has a big concentration of technical folks, universities, and start-ups and we want to expose as many people as possible to Drupal and all that it offers.

Anyone have recommendations for this? There's a list at

Anyone have any experience with these or other processors?

Obviously looking for simple setup, low fee, paypal-like.

Thanks!

Php for Drupal

So, for over a year now I've been looking off and on for Drupal related jobs. Invariably, some advanced knowledge of php is a requirement. Can I get some recommendations of resources that can teach me php? I can edit others code to a good extent, but have never written anything from scratch. I'm NOT a programmer (although I had to take Java and VB in college).

Simple way to show a taxonomy tree view?

I believe I'm over-thinking this.

I wish to show a hierarchical or tree view of a vocabulary. it's a two-tiered taxonomy.

How would you do this?

TIA,
Kyle

Help Kosta and I rock the vote for our DrupalCon Chicago session proposal!

Kosta and I are collaborating on a session on push-button Drupal deployments using Aegir, Features, Install profiles and Drush Make and you can help!
Sessions are chosen based on popular vote, so if you're registered for DrupalCon or planning on registering please be sure to vote for the sessions you'd like to see. Hopefully that might include our proposed session: https://chicago2011.drupal.org/sessions/push-button-drupal-sites-aegir-f...

CCK field for vote and annual-ranking

Hi, everyone:
Recently I need to add some features to a book review website which is built and maintained by myself.
One idea is that every book as a node could be voted by user and the result be shown in an view page, according to the duration(like 2007 vote, 2008 vote.....).

Another idea is that every book node is able to record an annual ranking result from other communities or websites, such that it could show the ranking and time in each node and a view page.

Another way to implement Hierarchical Select

Hi, everyone

After upgraded the Hierarchical Select module to 6.x.3.6, I found out it would produce huge cache data in mysql table(1.3G!) and decrease the server performance.
It seems a big issue:http://drupal.org/node/920588

I disable this module now. But I need something similar in my site; it has complex hierarchical taxonomy.
Any suggestion?

Superfish menus

Okay I am having trouble controlling where the bullets and arrows are showing in Superfish Vertical menus. The attached, from IE8, shows bullets and arrows, on the left navigation menu, outside the menu and on the left. That is the way they are displayed in FF3.5 for both the Nav menu and the "Secondary links" menu on the right side of the screen. In IE8 on the right side "Secondary Menu", they are within the menu area and close to the links.

mailhandler moderates comments

Hi TriDUG, I'm new here. I found out about the group via Jason Hibbets, he suggested you all might be able to help me. I have been playing with drupal for a few months on and off trying to build up a site, http://trianglebeats.com. I have finally gotten it up and I still have a lot of work to do(logo/theme is coming!). My current issue is something I have cross posted (please forgive!)

Install Profiles, Features, Drush, etc.

After the TriDUG meeting a few of us continued our talks at another venue. Install Profiles, Features, Drush, and general site maintenance was discussed.

I saw this article today:
http://awebfactory.com.ar/node/458
and it corrected much of my thinking on the subject. I hope it helps others.

November meetup

We had a good turnout tonight! For those of you that didn't make it one of the things discussed this evening was the potential to do one or more workshops on various Drupal-oriented topics. Based on the discussions we've had at the last two meetups it seems like there are some folks in the area that might be interested in a half-day workshop on using Views.

Nice_Menus confusion

I must be missing something. Either my comprehension level has suddenly hit rock bottom, or the instructions are a bit to vague. I am trying to use the Nice_Menus module (6.x-2.1) with Drupal 6.19 on a flash drive loaded Uniform Server 5.6.1-Nano i use for development. When it comes to customizing the menus, the documentation suggest copying and renaming "nice_menus_default.css" then using that one to customize the css. To do that you point to that file on theme configuration page "Administer -> Themes -> Configure -> Global settings -> "Path to custom nice menus CSS file".
