Welcome to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Drupal Group -- the place to get involved with the Twin Cities Drupal community whether you're new, a core contributor to the Drupal project or somewhere in between. Register for the group to get posting privileges and to be notified of what's going on.
Looking to connect with other local friendly Drupal people? Check out the Events tab for a rundown of our regular meetups and other upcoming Drupal-related events.
You can also join your Drupal peers and mentors in a couple of places:
- Slack tends to be more active these days. Join https://tcdrupal.slack.com. If you need an invite go here to get an automatic invite to the Slack team
- IRC -- #drupal-twin-cities on irc.freenode.net -- to ask questions, propose ideas, socialize. Check out Drupal.org for more info about IRC and Drupal including how to create a new account and connect. Or come to the next local meetup and someone will help you get started.
Hack for MN
Sorry about the short notice, but if anyone's still not busy this weekend, we're holding our second annual event for the National Day of Civic Hacking. It will be hosted at The Nerdery in Bloomington. Tickets are selling out on Eventbrite, but we'd still like to make sure we have a full house.
The event is called Hack for MN. It's a hackathon supported by local, state, and national government and community organizations. Agencies from NASA to the EPA have contributed challenges to work on. The hacks range from web, mobile, hardware, and social.

We need to find a new name for this event. "Coder Night" might be a bit intimidating for some folks.
Don't be intimidated, just come and bring a project to work on - it does not have to involve coding :-) You can also use this time to contribute to Drupal. I will be working on Drupal documentation and would be happy to help anyone that wants to come and work learn about how to contribute to Drupal documentation.
It looks like we will probably be meeting at Gorton Studio's - however, I'm waiting on final confirmation. If not, we'll find another location.

Read moreTrouble-shooting menu routing
Hi all,
I could use some trouble-shooting advice for a corrupted/partially restored (That's a long story) Drupal database. My site now loads with a generic error that I'm struggling to debug.
I think I've trace the problem to menu routing, but now I'm stuck. The menu_get_item function returns $router_items[$path] false. That doesn't seem right, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure how to trouble-shoot it.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions, like is there a better forum to post this request?
Read moreText format input filter problem - cannot get style attributes to work
I'm using CKEditor on a client's site and cannot find any documentation that shows how to create a text filter that will let a user enter style attributes (like changing the size of text). And by "user" I mean someone other than a trusted admin, so "Full HTML" is not an option.
Note - I'm not having any issues setting up CKEditor itself (either standalone, or with the WYSIWYG module), just the input filters...

Read moreWhat are the steps or best practices for open sourcing curriculum?
I've realized from the discussion regarding TCDrupal sponsorship of events, there is enough of a critical mass for me to decide that open sourcing the curriculum for Enjoy Drupal: Site Building Basics is the way to go. I've been telling folks informally that I'm happy to share it so long as they don't charge for the event, so why not make it "official"?
Read moreHow to determine where information is coming from on a Drupal page
There's a key bit of information I think I'm finally ready to learn - how to determine where information on a page is coming from in Drupal.
And by "where" I mean how do I find the templates being used that generate information I see on a given web page.
I'm working with CRM Core right now and I've noticed a few places where I have no idea where the info I'm seeing is getting generated. There is one that is bothering me more than the others - a view that includes 3 buttons that are not to be found anywhere in the views ui.

A Call for sponsors
Lets start with a call for sponsors for the upcoming Enjoy Drupal: Site Building Basics training workshop. We're looking for $850 to cover costs for 100 or so attendees, but also looking for other local Drupal service providers who want to be listed on our handout.
Should TCDrupal Sponsor Events?
Interesting discussion has come up around TCDrupal directly fully sponsoring events throughout the year. There are several examples of how this could be beneficial, but it has been suggested that the Enjoy Drupal: Site Building Basics training workshop be considered for this.

This event is going to be an all day, free training event on May 14th, 2014 in one of UMN's excellent active learning classrooms. We're going to introduce the core building blocks in Drupal, provide information about local Drupal service providers, and introduce the local Twin Cities DUG and other ways to get involved with Drupal.
Learn how to build your first Drupal website from the ground up through interactive, lecture-based instruction and practical real-world examples. A full day training consisting of progressive beginner topics in the morning (content creation, content types, fields & views) followed by mentored advanced topics and feature building in the afternoon.

Can anyone recommend a MySQL data recovery service? One of my servers has corrupted the /var/lib/mysql files and the host claims they don't have a backup. (I'm skeptical of that. I think we're mis-communicating.)
In the meantime, they've suggested I look for a MySQL data recovery service to repair /var/lib/mysql. Can anyone in the group recommend such a service?
TIA !
