Calagator for Eugene Tech Community
One of the groups in town has put together a tech event calendar for Eugene. The details are as follows:
Point your browser to http://eugator.org/ and check it out.
(If you're feeling stodgy, you can use http://www.eugene-tech-events.org/
instead. (-: )
We could use some help, though, in getting the word out.
Add any events that you know about.
Tell people about it.
-- tweet about it..
-- tell your friends.
-- tell your coworkers.
-- tell the members of any other tech groups you hang out with.

Portland meetup Wednesday 8/11 includes advanced GIT training
Some of us at the last meetup expressed a desire to get up to speed with GIT, the version control system that Drupal will be migrating to from the much outdated CVS. The Portland group, which meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, arranged to get an expert to provide some git training at their next meetup next Wednesday, so if you're interested, check it out. I won't be able to attend, but I encourage anyone who's interested to use the comments on this page or that page to arrange carpooling.

At the meetup on Wednesday, one of the discussion topics we touched on was the ImageCache module. It's the 8th most popular Drupal 6 module, and it is part of Drupal 7 core.

I am working with a customer who will require several different types of task forms (different tasks for people to perform). Is there a method or tool to create custom forms and reports in Storm? Alternatively, can the Webform module easily integrate with Storm?
Ideas?
Thank you,

Day/Time for next Meet-up?
Prior to the July 7 meeting, there was some discussion about moving the time of the meeting up, the idea being that perhaps more people would attend if the meeting were held during business hours. The next regularly scheduled meeting would normally be Wed, Aug 4, 6-8 pm.
Was there any discussion of this at the July 7 meeting? Did anyone have a proposal to make before the group?
I'm bringing this up now to make sure a decision is made in plenty of time to reserve the conference room at the UO.
thx!

Drupal Summit (NW) Announced - October 2-3 in Vancouver
Hey folks!
I just stumbled across this announcement of Drupal Summit Vancouver -- A free drupal conference in the NW.
It's October 2-3.
More info: http://pnwdrupalsummit.org/
I can't wait!
We should do what we can as a group to
A) Get people from Eugene (and the Willamette Valley) up there by providing support (logistics, fundraising?)
and
B) Support the organizing of the gathering.

DrupalConSF highlights
For anyone who doesn't know, DrupalCon is a biannual conference (in North America during early spring and in Europe during late summer) where people from all over the world get together to discuss all things Drupal. The most recent one was held two weeks ago in San Francisco. 3,000 people were in attendance, more than the last two (Paris and Washington DC) combined, demonstrating continued growth of the Drupal community and interest in Drupal.
There's so much cool stuff happening in Drupal right now, that I won't be able to do it justice in this post. Perhaps I'll add more comments later as I think of stuff that I'm compelled to mention. But for now, I'll just mention what I believe are two of the "you absolutely must know this" things that will change how you develop with and for Drupal.

Project Tools for Grassroots Activism
This project is currently being developed at Activism Labs
Overview
This set of tools will allow grassroots activists to better organize projects and campaigns and will also be useful to end-users working on almost any type or project. Existing tools for Drupal are lacking key features, often not very user-friendly, and almost never packaged for easy setup. I will address these problems by:
- Adding functionality to existing task tracking modules
- Creating the capacity for subgroups
Call for Presenters
Hello all,
We are scheduled to meet on Wednesday; and to the extent that we continue the format of open discussion paired with prepared presentation(s), I'd like to get a pool of presenters lined up.
Please contact me (email: joseph @ YourLibrarySite.com) if you are interested in presenting on a topic at the meeting. Let me know the topic, and approximate duration of your presentation.
I look forward to seeing everyone again on Wednesday...

Note that the building is locked after 5pm. Janice has agreed to be at the door from around 5:45-6:15 to let folks in the building. After that she'll post a note on the door with a cel phone number so that latecomers can call to be let in the building.

Grants for Summer Drupal Project - Project Management Tool for Activists
Hello all,
After attending the recent Eugene Drupal Users Group meeting, I wanted to reach out to some local networks of programmers to see if anyone had any ideas to contribute to a project that I am planning for this summer: A project management tool for activists, organizers and social movements.
I'm a student at the University of Oregon, a computer science minor, an environmental studies major and an activist. I have directed many issue/election campaigns and I started a new student group on campus. I work with organizers from across the NW on campaigns related to climate change.

Thanks for the meetup folks. At the meeting someone mentioned, I think, that someone from Arcimoto was trying to setup what sounded like a coworking type space near 5th & Blair in Eugene. Is that right? Is there someone I can contact about that, to find out more and potentially collaborate? Some of us from the Eugene Modern Web Developers group have been talking about coworking spaces on and off for a while, and it seems like it'd make sense to get all interested parties together.

I want to thank effulgentsia and Craftyspace for hosting the first meeting of the Eugene Drupal User's Group. _lunatic3 and I had a great time. We're both from Extanto, a Drupal dev house in Eugene. Something Extanto could at a meeting is demonstrate some of the techniques we use for infrastructure. We use Bazaar as our repository, with Eclipse and the Bazaar plugin on our development machines. It really is quite slick, and we'd be down with showing how we put it together. Any interest?
