implementation of <detail><summary> element for

The Current implementation of element provides a button role. Not sure if this is sufficient from the understandings at: http://accessibleculture.org/articles/2012/03/screen-readers-and-details....

As is not accessible on all browsers,To polyfill for accessibility we need to:

1) set tabindex ="0" - make it keyboard focusable
2) assign ARIA role button -> DONE!
3) aria-expanded attribute that changes based on state
4) non-summary content to be hidden by using dispaly:none when elements are collapsed

Working demonstrations of the Accessibility module

The start of the fall semester has meant little time for work on the Accessibility module lately, but we now have a live demonstration of the module (this is the 7.x-1.x-console branch with the new feedback interface). I'm very interested to see how we can improve the accessibility of the feedback mechanism itself, and will start testing appropriate ARIA roles with screen readers soon.

Is QUAIL daily automated testing far enough along for folks to start logging issues against errors and proposing patches?

To Kevin Miller, I'm so impressed with his work (and Dan Mouyard and Nick Schonning) getting the 2.0.3 tag on the QUAIL library cut.

QUAIL testing library 2.0.3 tag

Is this now the branch running on the Drupal 8 daily testing site?

Drupal Accessibility Scrum #4

Again, it was not well attended. Just me and Dharmesh. I would love love love for folks to be involved with this short, quick meeting because it gives us a chance to check in, discuss blockers and set expectations for our next week of contributing. It's only 15 minutes and will only ever be 15 minutes -- I am an intense defender of time.

Core conversation proposals for Prague are due soon.

I'd like to give an update on our work. It seems there a great opportunity for someone else here to get on stage with me and go through the highlights and list out what still needs attention. Let me know here if you'd like to join me in proposing this session.

Recapping Twin Cities Drupal Camp sessions, lessons and sprinting

Accessibility recap

Behavioral tests

I'm trying to get open links to the raw footage. I contacted dcmistry about this.

Our takeaways are that:

  • Drupal is not as accessible as we even dared to hope.
  • Content creation is painful and at points impossible for a non-sighted user.
  • The overlay is unusable for a non-sighted person. It's really painful to watch someone get lost in it.

Accessibility in 8 session

Take home points.
