About Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD)
Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD) is the umbrella group for most of the Drupal activity in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
With several weekly and monthly events, the Greater Los Angeles Area is one the most active areas for Drupal in the world. We've been bringing more Drupal to more people since 2010, and have as many as 10 meetups and other events dedicated to Drupal topics each and every month.
Our members and organizers have produced hundreds of Drupal events, including job fairs, meetups and workshops, conferences, paid trainings, coworking days, study group sessions, movie outings, FREE tutoring sessions from Drupal professionals, and website barnraisings to benefit non-profits and members of our community.
The Greater Los Angeles Drupal leadership team endeavors to actively empower and support volunteers and attendees in the Greater Los Angeles Area, and to provide resources (venues, guidance, equipment, raffle prizes, etc.) and an open governance model with consistency, transparency and accountability.

What's different about this group? (?)
In addition to our unique open governance model, GLAD has a different geographic focus than other regional groups. Formerly named Downtown Los Angeles Drupal, we've been meeting regularly in and around Downtown Los Angeles, California, since early 2010.
GLAD organizers lead a large number of events in the Greater Los Angeles Area, including Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, Culver City, Santa Monica, Pasadena, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, Riverside and Ventura.

Hi all,
Droplabs has a huge surplus of new Drupal Watchdog magazines at our original Downtown Los Angeles location. If any organizers of Drupal meetups, conferences and workshops around Southern California want a stack to take back to their meetups, let us know!
These are being offered free of charge. Droplabs doesn't have the resources to ship or deliver these, however, so the only catch is you'll need to come pick them up.

This event has been postponed due to lack of signups from those who qualify. We apologize for the inconvenience to those who have already RSVPd. Stay tuned to Meetup.com or @Droplabs on Twitter for news of when we reschedule this important event.
Do you own or help manage a company or organization that uses Drupal? Does your team depend on professional Drupal service providers in the Greater Los Angeles Area? Have you and your projects been affected by a shortage of Drupal development and theming talent?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then consider coming to our second Drupal Employers Summit from 7-9pm on Friday, August 16, 2013. There is no charge for this event. It is open to any and all companies and organizations who qualify, by following either or both of the following criteria:
- Hosting any Drupal meetups, trainings or other Drupal community events, including Downtown Drupal, High Performance Drupal, Frontend Drupal, LA Drupal, and so on;
- Sponsoring or exhibiting at any of the Drupal job fairs at Droplabs in June, 2011, November, 2011, and January, 2013.
Hosting a meetup at your office qualifies you for this event. Buying pizza at a meetup, while appreciated, does not. If you do not meet the above qualifications, contact us at http://droplabs.net/contact with a request to attend.
This is a roll-up-your-sleeves working meeting and we will be meeting one another (some for the first time) and discussing the following topics:
- A quick review of the Drupal Employers Summit we had on January 28, 2013;
- Catching up on recent events, such as Droplabs' module development boot camp;
- Building a healthy marketplace and business community of colleagues and potential partners;
- Getting the most out of our recruiting and marketing dollar;
- What we're doing now to staff up, from local recruiting and in-house training to outsourcing and hiring out-of-town or overseas;
- Identifying the skills, job titles and qualifications of desirable candidates, employees and vendors;
- Workshops, trainings and other programs that most or all of us can get behind in order to solve our business needs.
We'll have an open bar and cocktails will be served.

Best shared hosting for Drupal?
What is the best Drupal optimized shared hosting? I am looking to transfer my site from Dreamhost and I'd like to know who is best for Drupal. I am temporarily looking for shared hosting with SSL until my budget will allow me to switch to VPS or Dedicated hosting. I have been considering Green Geeks and Bluehost, but I'm very open to suggestions. Who do you use and what have your experiences been?
Thanks!
Droplabs Recognized as World's Top Drupal Location
This week Droplabs was recognized by Drupical as the top Drupal location for Drupal events around the world over the past 12 months. Thanks, Drupical! This level of activity has been made possible entirely by our community of event organizers, attendees and supporting sponsors.
Drupical is an awesome event listing service that aggregates and visualizes Drupal events around the world in a handy, attractive web app. It's especially useful while traveling and it's what we recommend to participating members of the California Drupal Travelers Program.
The next time you come to Droplabs, be sure to check out our "take a card, leave a card" table and pick up a few Drupical pins.
