About Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD)
Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD) is the umbrella group for most of the Drupal activity in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
With several weekly and monthly events, the Greater Los Angeles Area is one the most active areas for Drupal in the world. We've been bringing more Drupal to more people since 2010, and have as many as 10 meetups and other events dedicated to Drupal topics each and every month.
Our members and organizers have produced hundreds of Drupal events, including job fairs, meetups and workshops, conferences, paid trainings, coworking days, study group sessions, movie outings, FREE tutoring sessions from Drupal professionals, and website barnraisings to benefit non-profits and members of our community.
The Greater Los Angeles Drupal leadership team endeavors to actively empower and support volunteers and attendees in the Greater Los Angeles Area, and to provide resources (venues, guidance, equipment, raffle prizes, etc.) and an open governance model with consistency, transparency and accountability.

What's different about this group? (?)
In addition to our unique open governance model, GLAD has a different geographic focus than other regional groups. Formerly named Downtown Los Angeles Drupal, we've been meeting regularly in and around Downtown Los Angeles, California, since early 2010.
GLAD organizers lead a large number of events in the Greater Los Angeles Area, including Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, Culver City, Santa Monica, Pasadena, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, Riverside and Ventura.

[SOLVED] Running drupal with Joomla site problems
I had both joomla and drupal in separate folders within my domain while in development. The joomla site is now "live" for the domain. Accessing the drupal folder doesn't work anymore, resulting in "Forbidden - you don't have permission to access Drupal on this server." I don't want to reinstall Drupal, all the modules plus redo my tutorials again. What should I do and how? Thanks!

With the "digital nomads" breakout session at DrupalCon Portland still on my mind, I came across an intriguing blog post today by Nithin Coca about the so-called "rise and fall" of Couchsurfing.

Hi.
I am thinking about moving into California(from Europe) and I am curious about which California based companies are the best ones to work for? I'm more interested in full service advertising afencies rather than just companies specialized on websites(pure Drupal shops). Also I'm more interested in companies with more than 50 employees(I've worked for small companies and want a change of environment).
Which companies would you recommend?

End the month with some fun and Drupal at the San Gabriel Valley Drupal Meetup at Pasadena City College on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 6-8pm!
New to Drupal or the SGV Drupal meetup? See http://groups.drupal.org/node/295838#comment-918913 for notes from a recent meeting. Here's a testimonial from a happy attendee:
This is a very well organized and informative session. We got a good mix of senior developers and new comers and some in between. It is a pretty good turn out with 11 people considering it is in Pasadena right around rush hours. People are just terrific, very friendly and ready to help others. Feels like I have moved forward by leaps and bounds. Thanks everyone!
Do you have a presentation or job announcement that you'd like to share with the group? Is there a topic about something you'd like to see a presentation on? Leave a comment at http://groups.drupal.org/node/302508#comments to let the organizers and attendees know what you're interested in.

You are invited to the Droplabs 2-Year Anniversary Party on June 8, 2013!

Much has happened since we opened to the public in Spring, 2011, and at the start of our party our members will have a brief retrospective and share their favorite moments.
Don't worry, this event isn't a meetup with boring presentations. There will be plenty of food and drinks, as well as a raffle prize drawing and mingling and networking for most of the evening. The party is potluck-style, so bring something to share that you like to eat or drink. Bring something to share to throw on the grill!
