This group is dedicated to solutions and approaches for high traffic, high performing Drupal sites. As such, it will deal with a lot of information around the rest of a typical Drupal "stack" -- the operating system, web server, database, and PHP tweaks that combine to support the Drupal application.

High Performance Drupal Meetup at Droplabs and via WebEx on April 17, 2013: Frontend Performance
The next High Performance Drupal meetup is on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, between 6-8pm Pacific Time / 8-10pm Central Time. We're meeting at Droplabs, a collaborative classroom, coworking space and hackerspace near Downtown Los Angeles.
Those interested in attending this meetup remotely are welcome to join us via WebEx. We're starting an hour early this time so that we can team up with members of the Austin Drupal user group and the web chefs at Four Kitchens! Stay tuned for further details.
Our meetups follow a basic format and start off with Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes and full-length presentations. As always, we'll also have community Q&A, during which time anyone in attendance can ask questions, divine answers from the crowd and give brief, 5-10 minute-long presentations known as lightning talks. We'll finish off the night with more networking and a Drupal After Dark at 8:00pm.

Drupal site search using Search API (To search user data and page content)

“The search functionality on my website needs to search the website pages as well as User personal information (first name, last name, email etc). As Drupal core don’t search the user personal information, I have implemented the Search API. The search is working fine, if I’m using two separate pages. But I would like to have a single search box (similar to core search) on website and user can able to search Node index and User Index from a single search box. ”

ProjectPAAS, looking for free beta testers (giving back to those who have given to drupal)
It seems that with the growing Drupal user base, the problems with CMS (flexibility) and speed (non functional requirement) seems to be growing. We made a SAAS where one can install a small module (http://drupal.org/project/paas) and the buy a service where we scan your site. We do this on 100+ metrics and in an academic way (lots of "r" graphs, no gradients :-)
We measure your site from a selectable EC2 location and really test the site insite out and outside in. We dont just say "use parallel downloading", we measure how many host you need to get the most benefit, no yslow wisdom! :-)

Need help for maps showing large numbers of records
I'm pulling together a site which needs to have maps that display a couple of thousand records. The current solution uses Getlocations/Views with Google Maps as the back end; it works fine up to about 100 records (see attached screenshot) but then slows down and falls over as numbers are increased.
Does anybody have useful experience in this area? I'm happy to consider consultancy fees; less happy to speak with agencies.

CSS/JS files compress
Dear folks,
When we make a website using Drupal, almost every module have a CSS file and Drupal load it in every page. Just for an example, I have a small install of D7 in my machine with the core, views and ctools, just it. To load the homepage, Drupal load 13 different CSS files, including one for views, one for ctools, 4 from core (system module), 2 for fields, etc. For me, this is a huge amount of files with a big problem: each file is a request for the server (that's make the website slow).

Although I am sure this is a perennial topic in this group, I would like to start (yet another) discussion on optimization of my.cnf. I really don't understand mysql at all, and I have found even the slightest change to the my.cnf settings has a massive impact on my server performance.

I have written a module that writes views programmatically, and my mymodule.views_default.inc file is enormous. Currently there are 150 individual views, and 780 will be the target (this is the initial target).
But, even with the test group of 150 several things are happening.
1) when enabling the module via drush, php memory usage goes through the roof. It climbs into the gigs (TOP command), but it finally loads.

would appreciate suggestions/recommendations on server architecture of new site. it's D7 and mostly logged users.
here's the available hybrid cloud resources and the initial plan. would like to hear more suggestions to get the most of existing setup in terms of optimization and caching.
dedicated web: 8cpus, 12g ram
- apache (http on port 8080 and https on 443), http port 80 will go to varnish in another cloud server.
- apc (opcode caching only, not integrated iwth drupal)
dedicated db: 12cpus, 32g ram, ssd
- mysql
- memcache (just default config)
Setting reverse_proxy and reverse_proxy_addresses behind AWS ELBs
I've recently launched a Drupal 7 site using auto-scaling on AWS. The basic architecture is 2+ ELB that handle SSL, talking to multiple auto-scaled instances running nginx + php-fpm. Mostly, it's working.
I have noticed that the IP addresses logged for clients are in the 10.0.0.0/8 private network that Amazon uses. At first, I thought that HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR wasn't set, but it turns out that it is both set and correct. The problem is that settings.php wasn't set up.
I've now read the notes in setting.php, and am a bit confused.
