How/When We Started: The Indy Drupal Users Group started meeting in January of 2008. Since that time we've ranged from meeting once a month, to twice a month, to infrequently. We've had instructional meetups, guest speakers, some hack-a-thons, and even pulled off 2 DrupalCamps.
We haven't had a meetup since Feb 2016.
OLD NEWS: The IndyDrupal Meetup.com Page has been closed. We will be using this forum from now on.
In April 2018 I asked our 251 MeetUp.com members if they wanted to do a meetup and got little response.
Geeks and God Theming workshop
So I am watching Geeks and God live right now and they announce that on January 17th either in Detroit or Ohio they are going to be offering a theming workshop. From like 1-6pm. I think this would be a great opportunity to learn about themes.
Any one up for a road trip?
Read moreSite relaunch: looking for feedback
Hey everybody, I've recently relaunched my company website, and I'd like to get some feedback on the look and feel. I'm working on a case study for drupal.org on it right now, and I'd like it to be as good as possible before unveiling to a larger audience. Any feedback would be welcome.
Read moreContent Discovery
Is there a module that achieves personalized recommendations of community content from a users tags against all other users content tags?
So if user A tags a community node with 'drinks', 'entertainment', and 'bar' the resulting recommendation block would push similar tagged content to user A.
I've been reviewing the following modules but still confused

setup for a subscribed friend to friend recommendation???
only recommends content that has been voted on via VotingAPI.

My current website home, sometimes loads very, very, very slowly. I have rebooted my server once and it sped it up, but I am wondering about some best practices to optimize drupal performance on the backend. I have a lot of memory intensive modules, so I think that may have something to do with it.
I've been digging through the drupal planet trying to find anything, but wondered if anyone else has had any issues with slowness.

If people are interested I could talk about setting up and using a Drupal site with versioning control. At a meeting sometime.

Hey gang,
A buddy of mine from Cardiff built a cool web app that helps promote people's blogs.
http://blog.to.it/
My blog www.dougvann.com is utilizing the service.
I mention this for two reasons.
[1] You can find some great blogs on there especially techy ones.
[2] You should use this free service if you have a blog!
Check it out!

Theming Questions?
There seemed to be a lot of interest in theming at the Drupal group last night. This is a place to post your theming questions as you come across them and see if we can't find some solutions. I'm leaving it wide open!
These questions may be addressed or lead to theming workshop at the next meetups. So keep posting here for the next meetup.

What days are best for you to attendan Indy Drupal Users Group meeting?
Happy New Year!!
OK, I'm a month and a few days early with the Happy New Year.
Here's the scoop.
Monday Dec 1st will be the only meeting in December. It's too crazy of a month to try and squeeze a second one in.
For January let's start off with a meeting on Monday the 5th. Responses to the polls I will be posting will determine where we go from there.
As mentioned, I will posting some polls to see what the group members think about meeting schedules and content.
I know I spend a lot of time on here trying to gauge the group and feel it out and push it along...
Here's why:::
Promotional Material
So everyone knows, Doug and I put together some promotional materials in preparation for the IndyBang event. We have a 3x5 banner that has some general information about Drupal (thumbnail attached for reference) - this can be re-used at any convention booth or display setup that any Drupal Indy members attend or host. We also had some fliers printed out. These fliers just need subtle changes (like the next Drupal Indy Meetup) and they could also be applied for any event.
Contact Doug or I if you ever find a use for this material.

Hey gang!
We have a rather unique and interesting opportunity before us.
James Moriarty of www.moriartymedia.com runs a dev shop in town that uses Drupal rather heavily. He is also the chief organizer of a networking gig on 11/22/08 named www.INDYBANG.org [go spend some time on that site and get a feel for what it is :-) ]
He asked me to do a booth at the event to represent Drupal. He also offered free booth space. We discussed it for a while and the best idea I could come up with was to have the Indy Drupal Users Group show up and rock-it-DRUPAL-style!
10% off tickets for DoItWithDrupal event in New Orleans
the coupon code for 10% off is DOITWITHDOUGVANN
That wasn't my idea for the coupon name by the way! :-)
Hey gang. [cross post to Indy, Chicago Cinci]
I wanted to take a moment to say that I am going to be at the www.DoItWithDrupal.com Seminar Dec 10-12, and I'd love to hook up with any of you who are going as well. Contact me via the g.d.o contact form and let me know you're going. I'm also looking to share the room with some people and keep the costs down.
For those of you who are not planning on attending you can get 10% off of the registration price.
The Indy Drupal Users Group -- Invading Cincinnati?!
Hey Cincinnati Gang, cross-post to Chicago gang...
Doug Vann here. I head up the Indiana group at groups.drupal.org/indiana Myself and 6 of our group just had a blast over at the www.drupalcampchicago.org While there the topic was raised that the midwest Drupalers need to unite and work together.
I'd like to check out one of your meetings maybe in December or January. The megabus.com can get me there non-stop round trip for anywhere from $3 to $20 depending on how early I book it. I could see who in our group would like to join me.
