NodeStream

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.
This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

The NodeStream group is the place for general discussion and community building around the NodeStream Drupal distribution. This is also a way of making internal discussions around NodeStream within NodeOne public, to let everyone participate around NodeStream.

Adding additional Topic Regions

How do I add additional topic regions? I added the Taxonomy, but I cannot find the correlation between the Topic Region and the Page. How do I do this? I would like to add additional regions below the content that comes with the package.
Thanks!

No Captions?

There appears to be no captioning ability with NodeStream. Please tell me this is wrong. If true, such lack of a basic journalistic feature would delete NS from my list of potential news platforms.

Article Design of Kicker and Byline

A couple design questions have arisen about the layout of Article nodes. Is there any way to apply the Kicker in the North American sense, that is as a few words in smaller type that appears above headlines? Also, is there a way for the author's byline to appear before the start of the Article's body - as well as the author box below the Article?

NodeStream: Articles Do Not Appear

I'm having problems with articles not appearing on the "Front" page. I created an Article using the default setup with the D7 of NodeStream. After publishing it to the homepage, nothing appears. The article is assigned to /taxonomy/term/5 . When I click on the Front menu item, I get this URL: /taxonomy/term/5/# -- but no Article.

What's wrong?

The state of NodeStream w. 9

We are currently focusing a lot on the list of beta blockers, and the two main things we are working on are tests for our features and separating our products into their own projects. We also went to Rome and talked products on the Drupal products summit.

Development

We are currently focusing on tests, and we have created tests for some of our base content provider features. We are also working on tools that will make it easier to create your own tests if you are working on NodeStream. We will probably release a blog post about this later on.

Nodestream gallery

In NodeStream, I would like there to be a gallery. I've discussed this with Fabsor, and as with the other content providers, the gallery will be developed as it's own project. Sandbox here.

In this post, I intend to outline what a NodeStream gallery would consist of, and what the challenges are.

What will the gallery do?

The gallery will first and foremost provide a content type called gallery. A gallery will be created with a few standard fields for tags, description, and most importantly, media.

The state of NodeStream w.8

We released new versions of NodeStream 1 and 2 last week. We also started working more actively towards a beta release by identifiying our current beta blockers.

New versions of NodeStream

We released NodeStream 2 alpha 7 and NodeStream 1.3. Both builds on drupal.org, which means you don't have to go to nodestream.org to download NodeStream anymore. nodestream.org is now linking directly to the drupal.org page. NodeStream 2 alpha 7 comes with entity references and a lot of decoupled features.

New Question - Contributors

I am still working on my NS install and things are going well. Still have not figured out the pagination issue, but that aside, I am working with some test content and the one thing that I noticed is that when you create a contributor, I expected that when I assigned this contributor to the story I expected the following actions:
1) When you click on the contributor's name, I would have expected the bio and picture come up. There is no linking, which I found odd since Prose Point was able to do that.
2) I would have also liked a list of article to appear below the bio.

We have been doing a lot the last two weeks. We finally moved to use Entity reference instead of References, we started testing the drupal.org packing system and we had a NodeStream day at NodeOne.

I am disappointed!

I am still planning on using NS for a site deployment in a few weeks but I am not happy that no one has been able to take a moment to answer any of the questions that I have posted here. Is this not the correct group to ask questions? That was my impression.

If ANYONE can answer the 2 previous posts on here regarding automated pagination and topic regions, it would be greatly appreciated. If I need to post the question somewhere else, let me know.

Thanks,

The state of NodeStream w. 5

We struggled with some issues with Panels and CTools this week, but we also got some work done.

The biggest change last week was the removal of the article comment and blog comment features. The motivation behind removing them is that we could just as well use the core functionality here instead of inventing something of our own, which means we can reduce the number of features in the NodeStream package. Less is more sometimes.

The state of NodeStream w.4

We released a new version of NodeStream last week, 2.0-alpha5. It contains a lot of bug fixes, but most importantly, it makes the relation to contributors optional, which is good for sites that don't require advanced author management. We are still suffering from this bug though.

Topic Regions

I am working with an install of NS for D6 and so far things have been doing pretty well. I have a "sandbox" that I installed essentially tearing apart how everything works and I think that I have enough information to move forward with creating a migration path from ProsePoint to Nodestream, but there are two thing that are still eluding me (see previous post about auto pagination posted in this group)

The previous week, we worked on getting Entity reference all over NodeStream. Work is going on in this branch. We have replaced all fields, and now we are working on replacing a lot of views with our own formatter, Panels reference formatter.

A lot has happened since I wrote the last state of NodeStream, so it's time for a quick overview.

updates

Hi Everyone.

I'm new to Nodestream. I have a couple+ years experience using Drupal (beginning with 5x)but am not a Drupal genius. My work is in publishing and education so I'm pretty much stumbling around and am grateful for these forums for filling in the gaps in my knowledge. The latest profiles, especially under D7, are really terrific and I'm very excited to have found Nodestream. It's quicker/lighter than I thought it would be, especially compared to some other profiles in D6. Anyhow, one question I have may be simply answered...

Updates!

The future of promos

We have been looking at how well the promos are going to suit our needs and we have (almost) decided that incorporating them into what the site needs other than articles is going to be too much work.

So we are looking at going forward without promos. We obviously miss out on some cool functionality on the front page, but my question i is if there is anything in the pipeline for promos that we just cannot miss?
